I have a PS3 Phat 40GB version CECHG. I don't know why it is YLOD but most probably overheat because the fan speed up very easily.

I am looking someone who have service for reballing my ps3 and help me fix the YLOD including reapply thermal paste and dust cleaning.

Thanks!! In KL /Selangor Area. unsure.gif

Did you monitored the temperature?
Does the fan boost up after approximately 10 minutes of turning on?

Sadly to say in Malaysia seldom I see re-balling services being offered, mostly just the re-flow service.

New PS3 is around RM800 or less, the superslim 500GB one
I would say it is better to just get a new one

Reball or not still depend on luck aint like laptop or xbox easier, ps3 model 1k and slim the chipset is heavy need to be very accurate technique to fix it ;so nobody can do perfect i can guarantee smile.gif .

if you mention about sony center , they dont bother to fix but change the whole mainboard instead cost over RM800 more or less.

So nextime take note for new consoles ps3/ps4 after warranty just service once every year replace thermal compound/clear dust , so your hardware can pro-longer lifespan .

Cheers, im a retired technician 13 years to this industry .

I have the same PS3 PHAT 40GB. Still surviving until today, though play less nowadays cause of PS4. Though now the CD gets stuck in the tray, so have to shutdown and power blow it out of the tray. Guess all the dust it accumulated over the years?

Can you try to look for any youtube videos that teach you to reball your ownself?

Yea, i am quite interest on this too. Because the slim version is not available anymore, hard to find.

Due to the plastic feel, people just don't like the super slim. But purchase from official Sony can get 0% installment

TS, do yourself a favor and get the latest model of PS3, and that will last for a long time. It's not worth it to fix the old model, as it was prone to overheat anyway.

For the record, yes the latest model of PS3 is ugly as f**k, but at least it's reliable that the previous 2 models.
I can play on that thing for hours on end without any problems whatsoever.

Wow....I didn't update PS3 in a long time and now brand new ones costs RM1k plus (due to weak ringgit)
I think it is best to get a used super slim unit. shakehead.gif
