Watching Movie without needing any wifi connection or thru smart phone. Just plug in USB tongue.gif

P.S: Yesterday first time drove under wet road conditions. First time hear that awful ngek ngek ngek sound. Very damn obvious, super beh song to hear it. Almost got a heart attack before I remembered it was a known issue. I thought it was because of my monstrous driving hahaha doh.gif

P.P.S: Went to Old Klang Road 3S centre. Nice place, but car wash never wash properly and no vacuum.

P.P.PS: Went to JDM Teknik in Cheras to install autofold. Few post back I mentioned whether it will void warranty, and JDM said it's just plug and play. Assumed means no la. So had a chat with him while waiting, apparently there were some cases where Mazda voided warranty. By right plug and play doesn't interfere but Mazda was being anal about it was his reason. So now while his technician is installing only I learned that YES if something were to eff up, Mazda can potentially void it. I asked him if they are allowed to void it if they cannot prove it was the OBD that caused any malfunction/defect; his answer is vague. But anyway, if something where to happen and I have to claim warranty, I can just go back and remove it. I really love the autofold though. Sometimes walkaway lock can be iffy and one time I walked away without checking it was locked. It wasn't. So by checking whether my side mirror is folded or not, I can visually confirm if it was locked or not.

P.P.P.S: Did anyone know that there was a door unlock button near your knee area? It's a very small button, when you press it, all car doors unlock. I did not know of it's existence at all and my SA also never mentioned nor did I see it in the manual book. WHY PUT THERE?? I have been manually opening my car doors via the car door and thought it wasnt very elegant for such a tech rich car. Placement is also weird.

Talking about hidden buttons, I sent my car for ECU remap & the sifu told me that there's actually a button on the accelerator when you press full to turn on "aggressive driving mode". Never knew about this.

After googling, it's called a Accelerator Pedal Kickdown Switch.
*
OH so that's what it is? I sorta had a feeling it was programmed that way to save fuel; sluggish acceleration at first and then sudden increase in acceleration. I always have a sudden burst of power whenever I tekan to overtake a car. Is that why I have to pump petrol every 380km? For me the car is not fuel efficient at all, one full tank definitely cannot reach Penang. My old Vios can go to Penang one tank no problem, coasting at 140-160km. Last pump on the 15th, yesterday 19th had to pump again. Is this unusual? I'm getting 8.8L/100km/h but it doesn't add up. I get about 200km for the first 3 bars, and then the remaining bars goes down really damn quick. By 380km the car range shows I have maybe 49km left, which usually means in real time I can go for another 20km before my pump petrol indicator lights up.

Maybe I need to lay off the kick down. Starting to miss my vios. Only had to pump once every one and a half week.

Do let me know how to ECU remapping turns out.

How u play movie via USB?
*
It's a tweak that you can install via USB but you have to have a > V50 OS and if you don't know what you're doing you may potentially brick your mazda connect system. I suggest anyone to not try it if they don't know what they are doing. If you are interested, do check out my tips post that the TS has posted on the first page or visit this link for the full index of tweaks that are currently available. These tweaks are written by USERS and not from Mazda. Do bear in mind that the Mazda Connect and our car is highly integrated and messing with the mazda connect may potentially mess up with your car functions too (like walk away lock, HUD etc)

I can't seem to find information on it at all, and I am beginning to think I found the narnia button. I'm not near my car right now but I circled the area in the picture. Do let me know if you found the existence of this mysterious button so I know I'm not the only one.

I can't comment on the FC yet as it's only been a day, but I"m loving it so far. The car feels a lot lighter and responsive. I find the stock Mazda 3 sluggish on low speed & rev. Even my old waja had better pickup. But after the remap, it definitely feels alot livelier. I'm actually expecting better FC because I won't need to press down the accelerator for 2 seconds waiting to it to pick up anymore.

I did the remap at AE Tuned. Look for Mr.Chai. They are doing a promo now.
Wow, 380km does seem a little low. I'm on 80% city driving and I get more than 500km, and I don't have a light right feet. Might need to get something checked.
*
I asked the mazda service rep whether it was normal when I went to do my 1k service and he said yes. I accelerate a lot and drive anywhere between 110~140kmh now without going any higher because my petrol just goes down like water down the hill. I drive up and down from klang to subang, that's about it. Should I insist to Mazda that this isn't normal? Is anyone else getting a reading close to mine? I don't think even with braking and acceleration as constantly as I do should have such a big difference.. I mean, everyone else is boasting 500~650km/h and I'm here struggling to even get 420km on one tank. Don't tell me everyone who got this car drives on AVG 90kmh! rclxub.gif

I believe you should be seeing your FC improve as your car's mileage picks up. its pretty normal for new cars to be more thirsty.
But then again it depends on factors such as how heavy your right foot really is, and especially if you're frequently crawling in traffic. Even with i-stop enabled in heavy traffic i find that my fuel bars disappear quite quickly. idling / putting a 2 litre engine in stop and go situations would most definitely result in higher fuel consumption as opposed to a 1.5 liter engine.
Tried looking for the narnia switch in my car and couldn't find it. haha. I suspect that yours was installed together with the brake lock.  hmm.gif
// has anyone had their extra sound effect from the suspension when driving in rain rectified? I'm still yet to hear from the SC i went to service about the parts availability (since 31 Dec'15). Which SC can replace the parts and what was the waiting period like?
*
The button was installed with the brake lock.. sounds like my warranty is already six feet under. You know what, yeah that was stupid. I only realised it was there AFTER I installed it. Was there a place for a button all along or did the guys who installed my brake lock decided to just put it there I wonder. If it was the latter I would do a forehead slap so hard..

In regards to my car's mileage affecting my FC, I certainly hope so. Needing to pump in 4 days was just ridiculous. Then again I do always get stuck in the 6pm traffic and in fact I do idle in my car a lot.

I am going to bring up the suspension thing to my SC on monday since he is already ordering another part for another creaking I found. I'll see if he has any news in regards to that. I mentioned it to him before but he said it was an issue with the CX5 and the Mazda 3 shouldn't be affected. Uhhh beg to differ.

Do you drive really really aggressively? A lot of heavy breaking & accelerating? Other than driving style, I can't think of another reason. Especially if you're mostly driving on highways.  rclxub.gif Maybe try asking in the FB group. A lot of sifu there.
*
I drive 110~140 kmh when road is clear, I drive on highways 80% of the time moving at about 90kmh due to congestion and mild crawl for a short bit near the i-City toll there. 6 times a week. I do accelerate to over take but not very often.

Which FB group? I joined one but hasn't been approved.

i read up a lot of review from m3 drivers and their mileage per tank is definitely more than yours, i drive my 10 year old vios, full tank around 40L can to from KL to penang and 1 round around penang island before i need to fill up laugh.gif total mileage is almost 600km when i fill up, but i cruising on 110-120km/h on highway and max 80km/h in penang island, the sweet spot for 4 speeder vios

i can say the 10 year old vios ncp42 really win in term of fuel consumption, still able to compete with the new honda city with CVT and other korean made car on city drive

i hope i can achieve the same or even better mileage with my m3 soon, already book the car yesterday, hopefully within next week i can get the load approval then can officially join you all here  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
My car is not even one month old yet and I've already pumped 4 times mileage is at 1600km.

Don't trust the fuel indicator on the dashboard, only the last bar is reliable, can go about 20km-40km when the last bae indicator starts flashing. I too missed the super accurate fuel indicator in the vios, very faithful and reliable that i can predict almost to the point that I'm driving on vapour  nod.gif ) If you drive below 140km/h, then should be at least 500km, anything above that will be hard to say. I think it is programmed to run on power mode on anything above 3500rpm.

By the way, what petrol are you using? I get about 600km for 40L of BHP ron95.
*
The first time I drove, I also drove until last bar indicator flashing. That was 5 days after my first full tank my SA pumped for me. That was at Shell.

.........DATE...............PETROL STATION........AMOUNT............TYPE.............LITRES
..29 January 2016............SHELL.....................(NA)...............(NA)..............(NA)...
..03 February 2016..........CALTEX................RM 70.10............RON95...........40.060L
..11 February 2016..........CALTEX................RM 63.80............RON95...........36.460L
..15 February 2016..........CALTEX................RM 76.70............RON97...........37.415L
..20 February 2016..........CALTEX................RM 65.00............RON95...........37.142L

Currently exact mileage is at 1,777k. I got my car with 130km mileage.

The highest I have ever reach per full tank is 400km before I have to pump again (with fuel indicator flashing).

I always pump full tank and then reset my trip meter A, next time I fuel up I reset trip meter B and vice versa, and take note about how much I got per full pump. I always pump after I drove for about 380km, with about 30km worth of fuel left so I would say I am averaging 410km per full tank to the last drop. Do let me know if any of you have any comments on whether I should make noise to Mazda or not rclxub.gif

600km for 40L is more than mine by 220km vmad.gif May I know what's your driving like? I didn't know I couldn't trust my car lol. Yeah my vios was so reliable. By fuel light flash, mine was not the bar flashing but the petrol sign flashing like this (not my pic):
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The range says I have about 39km left but I do not trust it at all. Everytime I pump full it reads that I can drive for 610km but end up only 420km max so I don't even look at the range now, just at my AVG which is at the moment 8.8L/100km.

Do a proper full tank to full tank test. Record the mileage and see what L/100km you get. If you are not getting better than 10L/100km (this is for worse case 100% city drive) then there is something wrong with your car. Your car should be considered broken in already so FC will not improve with more mileage.

Note: the test doesn't mean you have to empty one full tank. As long as you pump full consecutively the amount pumped in the 2nd time is the qty you have used.
*
So if I get 8.8L/100km for 80% highway driving is that considered acceptable? Do check out my gas info above if you don't mind helping me out :S

bro mine was like around 50%city 50%highway, my avg was about 7.8L/100km, i can definitely get mileage above 450km per tank normally, if full highway lagi high mileage, but do take note i seldom slam on the gas pedal, i do monitor my rpm readings, gear switches always below 1.8k rpm,rpm seldom above 2k...
*
I would say my RPMs are usually 2.5k give or take .2

Only go above 3k-3.5k when overtaking. I monitor my RPMs too but not too strictly. Feel sad to buy such a car but cannot speed hahaha I drive like a beast in my Vios and I can still boast 460km per 42L tank compared to M3's 51L tank but I guess it's not a fair comparison.

8.8L/100km for 80% highway would be considered high. Based on your pump data above you are averaging 9L/100km so this roughly confirms the figure. It's high but not so high as to conclude that something is wrong. It could be due to driving style especially when putting a new car through its paces. Try driving more gently for one full tank and see if it improves the FC.
*
Hope so, but really appreciate your consoling words. Got really attached to the car and somehow hearing my car might have problem sounds like saying my child is retarded >.< touch wood touch wood. Okay, will try to drive more gently (try) and report back in a week. Thanks!

yea not fair to compared like tat mahhhh hehehe.. 2.0L vs 1.5L plus m3 weight 1.3ton++ while vios is 1ton++, m3 also gives u more powoooaaaahhhh (but not in the kind of sluggish pick up).. haha

try to make ur foot lighter a bit.. maintain below 2k for up shifting gear.. this car can go really fast, but let it go smoothly then will have better FC.. if u wan sudden acceleration m3 also no problem, but drinks fuel more kao kao abit haha, and engine sounds rough too when RPM hits 4-5k range.. haha

Haha wishful thinking wub.gif I'm very impatient and sorry but I almost always reach work just in time hahaha >.< I got accidentally revved that high before when I terhit the downshift paddle. The sound so painful >.< Will try to drive more ladylike, thanks for the advice!

I tried to make the process more automated by turning my air conditioning on at 18c so that I never have to turn i-Stop off every time I start driving but that might probably not be very fuel efficient sweat.gif

I total about 55-60km daily to work, 50% highway 50% urban drive. On the highway, average around 120km/h most of the time and will drive about 140km/h on a short stretch; the following half of my travel consist of a crawl for about 5-10 minutes and slow drive to home about 5-10 minutes.

Maybe you can have a look at your tyre pressure. Mine i pump 280kpa. Also, there could be a distant possibility of a sticky hand brake.
Same kpa for all four tyres. My driving pattern is almost the same as you but with 80% highway. Will bring it up to SC anyway, no matter how bad I can drive it is still considered to be on the high consumption side.

QUOTE(toonny @ Feb 22 2016, 11:12 AM)
MissHanz, I would advise you perform a check at SC. Dont think our Mazda3 is such a fuel thirsty monster. Previously I travel from Puchong to TTDI through LDP. Imaging 1 hr drive with almost 90% of time crawling in heavy traffic, I-stop was deactivated. I still can get above 500km per full tank. Round trip daily is around 50km, sometime it might take me 1 and half hour just to get back to Puchong.
*
Yea, I visit your fuelly a lot hahaha. Thanks, will definitely do that.

Hi, tried using castscreen but my CMU's memory is overloaded. I think I had too much tweaks. I reinstalled my firmware today to make a clean install of castscreen as well as trying out a new development: Android Auto! It is currently in beta version but I'll test it out and update you.

P.S: Someone is already developing a mirror compatible for iOS brows.gif

My current version is V56.00.100A. Our firmware region is ADR. Stick to ADR or our radio frequencies will be out of sync. Let me know if you have any questions regarding updating your OS smile.gif

V56 has improved bluetooth connectivity and quicker response but not any major changes.
