The game supports HDR. The pain in the ass is, the PSVR processor box does not support HDR passthrough: you can either play in HDR or play in VR.
What's even more "meh!" is the fact that Sony's implementation of HDR does not passthrough my AVR when my AVR (Denon AVR-X2200W) clearly supports HDR passthrough. Now I had to unhook everything and rearrange the HDMI cables to connect straight to my 4KTV, and pull another optical cable into the AVR to get surround sound.
So it's either I leave the PSVR processor box connected to the PS4 and play SDR-only or pull the cable from the back of the AVR and connect to PS4 straight and grab an optical cable to play in surround and HDR.
What a bloody mess, Sony! Makes rethink about getting the PS4 Pro if the hoops I have to jump through are like these.

Well its a cheap solution for playing larh, i dont think you will be able to launch Netflix or Spotify with HDCP turned off (at least i cant), cuz using an Elgato.
Looking at the response from that thread you quoted, they still have not found a 4K HDR capable HDMI switcher/splitter. The current solution (plug/unplug HDMI cables) will wear off the HDMI cables to the point that it will erode the HDMI connector contact points.
Looks like to Sony, you can either have VR or 4K HDR, not both. If you want both you need to either plug/unplug HDMI cables (With that caveat of wearing down your HDMI ports) or have 2 PS4 consoles (one for VR, one for 4K HDR).
I think it's pretty clear-cut which is HDR and which one is SDR. Much more pronounced than The Last of Us.

However, it came at a cost: lots more pronounced ghosting and checker-boarding on the overall image quality. Not really apparent when in motion but standing still, quite visible.
And this scene in HDR........WOW! You gotta shield your eyes. Blinding fires with dark surrounding. And the lighting! Perfect showcase for HDR!

YouTube adding HDR videos starting today. They specifically mention Samsung SUHDTVs along with other devices, good for those who made the right gamble picking their 4K TV.
First batch on the 10th. Second batch on 17th. After that it's December batch.
How many per batch? Anything from "not enough" to "nothing at all". The worse case scenario would be Sony Malaysia doing some shit online contest just like their 20th Anniversary PS4 and only allow selected winners to purchase only, to cover up for their inadequacy to get enough stock. While the rest of the world get the chance to actually buy them, even when they're limited editions.
Damnnn! made my reservation from Impulse last 16 of Sept but I was told that their ETA is still tentative for next week. They can't tell how many will arrive for their first batch but I'll be in their top 5. Sad waited for this day but no PS4 Pro to play over the weekend.
Can anyone validate how fast the file transfer is using the ethernet cable?
Slow. Already researched it: 50GB is around 64 minutes. My 400+GB I'm expecting around 8 hours plus.
Higher Resolution or Better Framerate for Infamous Second Son? The difference is palpable though, "Hugher Resolution" saw almost all shimmering and jaggies/stair-stepping removed. The HDR in this game takes getting used to: it literally blasts you with so much blinding colors sometimes while the rest of the surrounding remains dark.
Pretty detailed......whatever you are. Checkerboard rendering almost imperceptible. No indication what resolution it's running. Colors vibrant enough to think it's HDR although slight color banding on the blue skybox reveals its 8-bit color.
EDIT: URGHH. Low res textures and geometrical detail once the demo starts. Looks like a PS2 game.

WOW! Last time I played it, I was pretty disappointed how it looked like but that checkerboard rendering did the trick. It looks sharp! How are the frame rates and in-game visuals?
Framerates are okay. I hate the janky controls. In-game visuals are bland.

Um, youre using the wrong demo. Also checkerboard rendering is not automatic. It has to be implemnted in a patch for old games. The new one is called Judgment Disc and only available on Japanese PSN.
That one has a Pro mode built in, but I dont think HDR is implemented yet though.
Thanks for the info. I guess the game is rendered in lower res but upscaled. Noticed hints of it around the creature's furs.
Tested a few titles I have on PSVR with the PS4 Pro. No difference, or even if there are, the difference aren't tangible enough to be noticeable. Most of the tangible difference comes from titles with simple graphics like PlayRoom VR , not games with heavy textures and graphics like DriveClub VR for example. Faraway objects in DriveClub VR is still blurry.
Load times has improved somewhat.
The eye openers are games improved in terms of visuals (HDR or higher resolution) or better framerates. HDR effects noticeable in Uncharted 4, while the uptick from 30fps lock to unlocked framerates is most felt in The Last Us Remastered. Resolution change improvements can be see in Infamous Second Son, almost immediately when you toggle between them.
