This model functions without any external power. Just simple plug and play which is very convenient for those who are having 1 or 2 USB hub on their laptop.

Let’s look at the specification first shall we?

Dimensions = 2.8 x 2.8 x 0.7 in. (71 x 71 x 16.6 mm)
Output Interface = 4 USB 3.0 Ports
Input Interface = USB 3.0 Type-A
Chipset = VIA VL812 Chipset with Latest Firmware
Supported Systems = Windows, Mac OS X and Linux systems
Package contents = USB 3.0 4-Port Portable Hub UH400 and Quick Installation Guide

So, again, it is SMALL and LIGHT, hence, easy to carry around and functioning well without any external power.

Size comparison with a pen.

White LED will light up when you slot in a pendrive/other USB input.

I have tested the USB hub with my laptop and here are the results.

I used Iklips pendrive (http://www.adamelements.com/iKlips/iklips.html) and WD My Book 4TB as my storage and below are the copy speed from laptop to the external source without using the adapter.

Attached Image *copy speed = 29MB/s

Attached Image *copy speed = 32MB/s

Now here is the picture of Iklips + USB HUB.

Attached Image *copy speed = 26MB/s

Another picture with Kingston 2.0 pendrive + USB HUB

Attached Image *copy speed = 8MB/s

Here is the picture of WD My book + USB HUB.

Attached Image *copy speed = 31MB/s

Let’s see the double action.

Attached Image
*copy speed = 18.2MB/s to Iklips and 21.8MB/s to WD Mybook

From what I can conclude is the copy speed dropped just a TINY LITTLE BIT compared to direct plug in and I am very satisfied with the TPLINK UH400 as my USB portable hub. *highly recommended product

I stayed with Logitech USB 2.0 hub for several years, cost me Rm100++ that time

not sure about the same price range but there are plenty of choices in the market for usb 3.0 biggrin.gif
