ah yes, I remember seeing a post from Style Laser about the same. Then I notice the USD actually drop instead of rise, and  I reply to their comment, they didn't bother reply me though. I still cant comprehend why the AVR here is selling so much more than other countries.  bangwall.gif

Why would Hifi shops be scared to setup in JB?
*
in the old time ppl can source it from SG and "import" themself with cheaper price.. thats why a lot hifi shop tutup kedai.. denon avr are being sold everywhere even in courts.. their price are more competitive... another thing is malaysia tax.. if i m not mistaken its pretty steep for hifi or even headifi

Thanks all for your advice, I just paid for the Denon 3700 from the dealer name start from C__ , they have other freebies which I find hard to justify my 3600 purchase. And best thing the price just different by 1k. Looking forward to the arrival of the receiver in the next few days. I still yet to decide on the speaker that I going to get though. 🤔

Hi, any difference for speaker wire used in car audio vs home audio? Also is it better to use ofc type to reduce corrosion?
*
as far as i know... no.. but normally due to the space constraint in car they wont put thick cables but at home u can put thick cables
OFC is good but there are many other tech and plating that can be chosen.. cables alone can lead to many discussion.. sweat.gif

Easier is to have floor speaker with speaker facing an angle to ceiling, right?  smile.gif
*
the important part is the high, high freq doesnt travel far so the toe adjustment will compensate if the high is not so clear. If you are angle it to ceiling mostly your tweeter will be pointed to ceiling instead to your ear.. but no golden rule.. if you think you can get more high by doing that.. nobody can stop you icon_rolleyes.gif

I was talking about speaker that purposely designed for 7.1 (housed together with front speaker) which has speaker on top angled toward ceiling at angle to reflect back to audience. A surround speakers, not the front speakers  smile.gif
*
that is called atmos speaker / elevation speaker.. brand like klipsch they have this.. https://www.klipsch.com/floor-speakers.. its very difficult when it comes to placement.. u need to adjust your speaker according to the angle from your atmos speaker.. later u find your sweet spot at the middle of the walkway or they r something that is obstructing.. the placement

if you can place ceiling speaker thats the best approach.. as compare to elevation which is a hit or miss kind of setup

Denon AVC-x3700 , from the manual , there is a hidden setting that you can set by the following steps

1. Press and hold the main unit’s ZONE2 SOURCE and STATUS at the same time for at least 3 seconds.
“V.Format:< PAL>” appears on the display.
2. Press DIMMER on the main unit three times.
“Sp.Imp.:<8ohms>” appears on the display.
3. Press SOUND MODE or PURE DIRECT on the main unit to select the
impedance.
Can change to 8, 6, 4 Ohms
4. Press the main unit’s STATUS to complete the setting.

Thanks bro, there was a good promotion during the launch and some freebies that I found hard to resist, price difference is just 1k compared to 3600, so I decided to get 3700 instead. Not to mention excellent service from the dealer name start with C__, they promise to deliver before CMCO start and they do keep their promise , happy with the receiver  so far:)

Fortunately it comes with Audyssey Low Frequency Containment band which I find it handy  tongue.gif  according to the manual its written. Anyhow i dont really listen to music too loud on max about 55 the volume, dont want to mess with my neighbours  tongue.gif

Audyssey LFC™ solves the problem of low frequency sounds disturbing people in neighboring rooms or apartments. Audyssey LFC™ dynamically monitors the audio content and removes the low frequencies that pass through walls, floors and ceilings. It then applies psychoacoustic processing to restore the perception of low bass for listeners in the room. The result is great sound that no longer disturbs the neighbors
*
music is fine bro.. the movies is the killer.. and yeah normally i wont enable LFC as they limit the extreme low freq. Unless u have rattling issue and you cannot solve with other measurement (i.e. placement of the sub or isolation food/pad) then thats the last resort you want to go with

Hi Guyz, I am new in Home Theater setup. Currently using Samsung Atmos soundbar for movie and music. Source mainly Utube, Netflix, andsome downloaded. I planning to sell the soundbar and upgrade to speaker set. Now eyeing on Denon Avr and Klipsch speaker, and wanna get some feedback here. Is Klipsch speaker worth the price? I simply love the speaker design and aesthetic of it. But don't know how their perform.
*
Klipsch are good old US Brand.. they r famous for their horn tweeter.. if you have budget you can consider their reference series.

I'm wondering if we r not using blu-ray do we still need dolby vision
(from smart TV user)
Netflix HDR¹⁰ is using what tech?

and in fact do we still need dts/dolby atmos, if we r using hdmi earc?
the audio bandwidth is sufficient to delivering raw audio, no need compressions
*
if you have media player that supports dolby vision and you have media source which contains dolby vision (DV) metadata, you still can run DV without bluray player. Or even playing media directly to tv may give u dolby vision so bluray or not may not be relevent.

HDR10 is actually standard / generic HDR. The metadata is static, in layman it means the color information are the same through the film. Dolby vision however contains dynamic "HDR" information that may change from scene to scene. Hence the video file size is bigger compare to HDR10. To counter Dolby Vision, new HDR standard was introduced - HDR10+ which support dynamic metadata

and in fact do we still need dts/dolby atmos, if we r using hdmi earc?

you are right eARC provide more bandwidth to support higher res audio.. you cannot send high res audio like TrueHD/HDMA if one of your device (either TV or Audio) doesnt support eARC. Does your RAW = PCM/LPCM?

there is another thing is dolby MAT 2.0 where LPCM can carry metadata, also can become dolby atmos at receiver that can support earc.

I believe this is what apple tv does? As well as xbox if flatpanelshd is not wrong.
*
reading about MAT 2.0

i read:
QUOTE
A spatially-coded substream is added to Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus or is present as metadata in Dolby MAT 2.0, LPCM like format.

source: https://www.wikiwand.com/en/Dolby_Atmos

from the statement it seems like it will work even with ARC as long as the receiver supports Atmos. Because TrueHD and DD+ can be passthru using ARC. Nevertheless, most of the atmos certified receiver would have supported HDCP 2.2 support (eARC)

Hmmm.. what will be the recommendation for a bang for bucks 7.1 receiver.. intending somewhere around rm3000-4000 for the initial setup (receiver plus 2.0 or maybe 2.1)
*
initial setup - means to add speakers slowly?
if you just wan a basic AVR and a pair of bookshelf i think you can top up a bit to RM4500 and buy a denon x1600h (~RM3,000) + svs prime satellite (~RM1,500) which can be downgraded to your surround later when you upgrade

x1600h is a very basic AVR but come with audessey and i would say you wouldn't want to make it run on 7.1 unless u got a very very small room. 5.1 should be fine.. if you have a large room and you need that much of speakers you need to top up and buy better AVR.

else like what SSJBen said look for second hand unit.. pm me if you are interested for a used denon receiver

Correction on @bolded - Prime bookshelf is RM2.5-2.7k. The RM1.5k is Prime satellites, which I absolutely DO NOT recommend without a sub.

yea boss.. satellite not bookshelf brows.gif
