Thx for the kind words! Definitely feel better about my decisions now that a sifu approves of it haha

Oh man a second sub.... That's sure gonna be tempting as hell especially if I do notice any nulls in the low end spectrum after everything is set up properly.

But the main thing I'm hoping now is for my nvidia shield TV to play nice with this without any audio pass through issues for kodi and netflix XD
As those are the main reason why I didn't continue playing the waiting game till next year to get a 2.1 based receiver and everything else one shot.

Don’t worry about HDMI 2.1, won’t be needing it even for next few years. Even 1.4b still can carry 4k signal properly

Guys,

My DENON AVR2309 intermittent no sound output for LCR.

Sometimes C have sound, then no sound.
Then R got sound, then no sound again.
L totally no sound.
What happened?

Using the test tone for LCR, also intermittent no sound.
But, test tone Rs, Ls and Sub, have sound.

Ic. Does it output Dolby Atmos? The Onkyo one I found does

Many models of Yamaha AVR does Atmos. My advice is don’t buy Onkyo, there product life spend very short

Guys, wanna ask should i wait for monitor bronze 100 / 50 or get the monitor bronze 2 series? the new one is a looker and seems to be a good upgrade with bigger woofer at 8inch for 100. if down budget the bronze 50 also seems to be good enough to become front LR compared to bronze 1. I am also planning to get their centre channel too. all will connect to my coming x1600h.

Should wait

Marantz are more musical type of AVR. Denon are more powerful feel which is better for movie.

Any clear guideline from web for reference will be appreciated.

Keep in mind any of those are reference only. Most probably you need to adapt to your house environment

I can only say I do hear a difference in sound in some setup. Can't say it's better or worst.

I personally using the not-too-expensive QED Silver something with my small Krell amp. Can't be bother with anything more expensive.

I do agree that cable will make the difference

Thanks, I guess its hard to have a perfect setup. Upfiring speaker may be appealing for those who have the right room condition and dont want to drill holes into their ceiling / wall. I believe nothing is perfect
*
Is a compromise. Just like some people will accept sound bar as well. Nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for your advice once again. I am having a 5.1 setup for now. Atmos comes later, I need to setup the 5.1 properly first in this case.
*
A simple method, just take a long measurement tape and get your distance than put into the avr setting. Slowly adjust from there on

Perhaps its best to have the AVR built in advanced Audyssey xt32 calibration software to do its job.
*
Using the software is totally fine. Sometimes our mic placement or room sound which will throw off the measurement. So using a more old fashion way will be able to set it correctly. Anyway this is one of the question about doing manual calibration.

You don't need to change the impedance. Speaker (Ohm) is never constant. It will goes up and down as you use. It depends on the volume level. During some loud scene the ohm will be lowered so that the speaker can draw more power and during the more quiet scene, the ohm will maintain at nominal level. If you check your speaker specification it will state what is the lowest ohm the speaker can go.

When in doubts is best to refer to the manual. I know is a pain to read it but most of your answer are in there.

Unfortunately that the manual didn't explain that we should not change the impedance setting to lower, it just state that it can be set to lower for speaker that support it. Very general.
*
If you do change it , nothing is wrong as well. Is just the power handling is switched. What you need to know is the specs of your speaker in handling it so it don’t blow up your speaker or burn the amp. The function is build in there for a reason. Using it or not is up to individual preference
