Okay i've finished my SPM and now i'm thinking of getting into a Japanese Language center for 1.5 years for an EJU certificate . Then i'll be going to Japan for 4 years for an Engineering Degree .

My question : Which field of engineering is well-recognized in japan ? I heard it is Mechanical , Aerospace or Electronic . What do u think?

Please say ur point of view here , as i'm really concern whether studying in japan is a good and wise choice . Thanks cool2.gif

You will lose 2 years of your life for learning Japanese. Let's consider each year of your life to cost $20,000 (time, youth, mind, energy and effort...).

Therefore you are putting $40000 for a fantasy of living and learning in Japan.

You can learn the same thing you want to learn in Japan in English in Australia as an example. In this way you save all those I told.

--

My experience: 3 years ago I decided to learn German because universities in germany were free. I put three years of my life to learn the difficult language.

Now German universities ask for fee. Living in Germany has become more difficult for foreigners etc. (specially for Muslims).

Now I have changed my mind, decided to come to Malaysia and study in English.

If I had done this 3 years ago I would have my PHD now.

Think twice before putting your energy on something.

Thanks for ur advice . Well , i wouldn't call that a waste of youth , energy and time to pursue my dream . Yes u could actually learn everything u want in Malaysia but the experience , u cant buy it with money nor u can learn it in Malaysia . If u study for STPM also , its more or less the same , 1.5 years .

How about pursuing IT related field there(multimedia, programming etc)? Advisable?

Thanks for the advice, but i'm not actually interested in IT related field . biggrin.gif

If the expenses of Tokyo is expensive, actually you can choose to study in rural area in Japan. The cost of living is cheaper compare to urban areas. In others hand, the percentage to getting a part time job will be lesser.

The tuition fee to study in Japan is around 600,000 yen per year for public university, and 1,200,000 yen + for private university. And most of the universities have tuition fee deduction up to 75%.

My gf studied in Japan. For her 4 years university life, she spent not more than RM20k. Actually less than this amount, if not included the travelling expenses and flight ticket to Japan and Malaysia.

The difficuty to study in Japan is you need to spent at least a year to study a Japanese language. But what you learned is not wasted, extra language skills help you be more competitive in career path. Many Japan MNC companies required japanese speaking graduated students in Malaysia.

I have already prepared to take this challenge - Learning a new Language - once i had this dream set on my mind . And if u compare with other western countries , RM20k for 4 years is actually very cheap no? U wont spend less than 200k in US, UK or Australia .

THanks again for everyone's replies . That helped me alot . I really appreciate that . An extra thanks to wmac , u made me think thrice , and that gained me a better determination . BUt dont worry , ur knowledge is not wasted wink.gif

Luckily , i can read chinese. Thanks alot my friend biggrin.gif . I appreciate it very much . Looks like its not really easy to survive there.

But just now the consultant in IBT called me up . And i asked him alot of question and all my questions are answered . According to him , U can get school fees exemption . If u get 100% school fees exemption , ur scholaarship will go to ur living expenses. If u dont get school fees exemption , u can work part time and everything can be covered . 1 week 28 hours only . So basically financial is not as hard as i think . But i'll of course need to work hard to get those .

After calculating the numbers given in the article above, i find that the living expenses are not as high as i thought . 12000 yen = RM 400 per month for food is not that expensive .

I think i'll be goin in with april intake as well. Have you actually enrolled or planning to enrol? Seems you've made up your mind. I'll be doin part time for my Jap lessons , not the pre-u studies that is required for Jap universities.

The gaijin = foreigner. So what i was sayin was, i am not too sure if you're a foreigner would incur 'extra' charges like a foreigner in Malaysia. Sometimes shops charges extra here if they see you belong to the foreigner class. So better to check if it happens in the place you plan to go.

Cool . Yes i've talked to the consultant and i'll send in my form once i got my SPM results . More or less, i'll be in . Okay, i'll be full time though . Its nice to have a friend there together , we can teach each other XD haha .Are yours the 12 months course?

Alright for the gaijin thing , i'm not sure but i think i have 1.5 years to check out . I'll ask the ppl in IBT again . Thanks for ur information and hope to see u soon smile.gif

Oh yeah for anyone who actually have studied in IBT before, can we somehow gain some examption if we have a certain proficiency in basic Japanese?

What does Beginner 1 and 2, Intermediate 1 and 2 means for the part-time classes?
*
I've asked the person there regarding this just now . They say u can get tuition fees waive if u get good results during the semester . I think u might want to ask them for further infomation .
