Any source in your statement that it was development against benchmark of contis?

6 questions answered by the Honda Civic's chief engineer

1. In what Honda models will we see this new 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine in the future?

In Japan, we already introduced the Stepwgn and the Jade with the 1.5-liter turbo. For the world market, the Civic is the first model. However, I can’t say the future models, sorry.

2. Hmm...does this 1.5-liter motor fit in the Jazz?

The Jazz engine room is a little smaller than the Civic’s, so space is not enough. Actually, even this engine room (referring to the Civic) is just the right size.

3. The new Civic looks so big. Is the size close to midsize?

The exterior size is not the same as a midsize car, but interior-wise, yes.

4. What are you most proud of about the 10th-generation Civic?

My expertise is complete car testing. The dynamic performance is much improved over the current model. The acceleration performance, the handling, the stability and the ride comfort were also improved a lot.

5. What do you feel is the Civic's closest Japanese competitor?

We didn’t think of a competitor, but I think in terms of sales volume, the Toyota Corolla (Altis) would be a strong competitor.

6. When developing the new Civic, did you benchmark it against any car?

We benchmarked the European premium car, the Audi A3. Of course, the A3 is much more expensive. Also the Volkswagen Golf, which uses the same platform.

SA just confirmed Official Launching 1st week of June. Colours are as below:
White Orchird Pearl
Dark Red Ruby Pearl
Crystal Black
Lunar Silver Metallic
Modern Steel Metallic
Cosmic Blue Metallic not available for Malaysian market
*
All the colors on offer are typical color for Honda cars line-up available in Malaysia.
Dark Red Ruby is the one that City is wearing now. It is quite expected that these are the colors available at their Alor Gajah paint house. I guess many are dreaming of Rallye Red to be on offerred too.

But looking at 1.5 T premium, we are close to Thai Rs specs. Despite missing honda Lanewatch, black out chrome bar and spoiler, we gain rear aircond. The rest is about the same as RS.
*
rear spoiler (with 3rd brake light) like the Thai RS is a good addition if HM can offer it, can improve the car rear dress-ability.

That will translate to cheaper maintenance for the long run with NA 1.8

The above invitation link looks like a sales team from a showroom collecting data of potential customers...

Anyone know how many booking has been made for this car? And how long is the waiting time?
*
for comparison, last time after HR-V was launched, HM has 13,000 unit in their order book and customer has to wait for 6 month to get the car.

based on HRV current booking history, lowest spec HRV has longer waiting period (>3months) while highest specs can get within a month. I guess HM production line prioritised model with high booking volume or they assemble more high spec HRV to boost high spec sales.

Ya sounds crazy...anyone knows how much the LED lightbulb cost in market?
*
QUOTE(GeekinE90 @ Jun 9 2016, 12:04 PM)
The OEM LED headlights are not easy to retrofit as it comes with automatic self leveling features, and the leveling sensors and wiring usually stretch to the back of the car.  Each lamp should cost thousands.
*
for comparison (i know may not exactly same class) - Mazda CX-5 LED headlamp one side cost is RM4K plus.

Test drove the car today. few points solely based on my 15mins experientia with the awesome car:

1) the TC engine was really enjoyable to drive, the acceleration power is there when i floored the gas pedal.
The power mill feels very powerful to move the civic body.
2) The 7" advance display audio at par with 2.4 Honda Odyssey that I test drove few weeks ago.
3) Leather seat very comfy.

I also test drove Mazda 3 and the latter had upper hand for leather seat material, leather steering wheel and the controller button on the steering. It dashboard material also feels smoother.

The civic front seat design is awesome where it allows extra view of frontage panorama for rear passenger.

What is the reason if one want to take up the civic with the Navigation option?
Especially those who most of time Waze is the preferred choice.

So looks like the built-in Navigation option is not the major selection point, rather LED headlight it is (except if one often drive in Singapore).
Then what is/are main reason one preferred the LED headlight compare to halogen headlight?

went to see the car yesterday...the rear is hideous as it is on picture...some may say it is futuristic...but imagine this rear end on some proton car...wonder what would they say...interior quality is nothing to shout about..but it's definitely spacious..i dont think they need to sell their accord anymore...engine bay is messy..hmm..what else...should have given front parking sensor for this car
*
The rear end still need some are of improvement though. Civic hatchback prototype might improved a bit on that design. Lets see on FL in 3-4 years time.
Yes anything on proton might have some feedbacks from Malaysian. Try imagine proton choose a Proton Macan for its SUV name... Sure inviting comments.. But Macan on Porsche look very speedy though

1.5TC vs. 1.5TC-P : forget about the Navigation. For some the halogen vs LED headlights seems not much issues, but the front turn signal of 1.5TC-P is a mile away compared to the one on 1.5TC.
