I should be getting my 1.5T silver by next Tuesday if all goes well.

What I'm most concerned about is the security of the car. I assume it will be probably quite high on the theft list.

What's the level of security

Take honda insurance package. If lost they will pay u 100% of the insured amount.

Good idea! I see this on the Honda site. Is this the regular insurance that comes with the car when I purchased it, since it's with MSIG anyway, or is this an add-on on top of the regular insurance?

Also, any way to harden the car? It's my first car with keyless entry and push start - fearful that it's easy for somebody intercepts the signal then enters the car wirelessly

Looking for pedal lock, but can't really seem to find any. Will it void warranty?

ask honda SA install for you. they will quote you pedal lock without electronic/wiring.
May bit expensive compare outside but at least is installed when you collect ur car..

Thanks for the tip! Will do this.

went to showroom and check out the new civic. i noticed that the show room car's door is a bit hard to open and close, ask SA and he say it's by design. other show room car also same?
*
Yes, I also experienced the car door being very hard and heavy to open. I was thinking it's just brand new, with some wd40 and some wear, it'll open fine

Just drive normally lor. Then wake up early on a Sunday morning and take it for a run (within legal limits, of course). Try using S mode or paddle shifters to vary the RPM.

But then again, it's a modern car, don't worry too much about the break in period. All are just theories anyway.

So from what I gather, for run in period, pretty much just drive like normal right?

I have been reading the manual in anticipation for the car... it doesn't say anything about run in period

where the manual.. pls share?

This one is the most detailed I can find - for US/CAN version

http://www.civicx.com/downloads/2016-Civic-Owners-Manual-[CivicX].pdf

Very interesting - this car really allows a huge range of settings - even the trip meter can be automatically reset.

The other one - is more like a quick guide

Depends on what you believe really....hard break-on, slow break-in or just drive normally.

If touchwood anything happen to your engine a few years down the road, will you say to yourself "AIYA mesti sbab I x run-in engine properly"?? Of course not....there are thousands of factors that will affect engine durability after driving it all those kilometers.

But your car does not only consist of your engine, other components such as brake pads and tires need to bed-in, the suspension needs to settle to it's designed height (especially those cars that are delivered to you fresh from the factory), to function at it's full potential....but that takes less than 100km or a few days..... So when you drive your car off the showroom, take it easy and let those components get "acquainted" with each other, and yourself with the car. Also if there are any assembly defects, you won't be going too fast when, say, your brakes fail, so there's that safety aspect.

Personally, within a week of getting my car I already lenjan up genting  laugh.gif

Pretty much agree with you. Will drive like normal. Definitely won't let my friends get behind the wheel! Lol.

In my old myvi manual there is one that says - drive like an uncle on sunday mornings until 1000km - ha!

Anyway, I checked with my SA, she doesn't know what a pedal lock is. So I guess until somebody from Lowyat or whatever sells one - I'm gonna be pretty much parking it in the safest places possible.

I think the new Civic has lower ground clearance than City, not sure if it has the same issue like the Toyota Prius which also has quite low ground clearance and the bottom sometimes hit bumps. Waiting for feedback from new civic owner to share.

Should be OK I guess. I'll be going extra slow on bumps.

For prius, it's ok with 2 people. If full load guarantee scrape if fast but only coz suspension is very soft. Civic should have a firmer suspension.
