I'm a SPM 2015 leaver and just got to find out about the reintroduced diploma programmes by UTM. The programmes will be run by UTMSPACE and I'm interested with it's Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course. Anyone has any idea about the fee schedule? Thanks.

I dont see the reason why u need to start with diploma at this era.
Dont waste your time, straight do degree.

U probably dont understand what im saying now, once your start to join workforce, ull understand.

Good luck and all the best for your study.

I don't plan on doing STPM and the probability of me getting a place in any local public uni foundation program or matrics is a little is low. I want a degree in ME from UTM, so I guess getting a diploma from UTMSPACE could be one of the best routes.

well the thing about this route is COMPETITION.

there arent many public unis offering diploma apart from UiTM and some other new/upcoming universities. UiTM is bumiputera only, and those other unis are lesser known / still new. UTM has been around for quite some time, and it's specializes in engineering and technology.

the diploma programme was stopped before because it takes the resources out of the university. we had to allocate PhD holders to teach diploma students, which they're better off teaching postgrad or at least undergrad degrees. after we stopped in, suddenly there's a surge of complaints from the public. at that point, we didnt even realize how much the public wants the path that UTM was offering.

hence after some restructuring, we offer the diploma under UTM's subsidiary to run it: UTM SPACE

it means that u're gonna be facing a lot of competition. places are limited. but every SPM leaver looking to skip STPM/matrics and go straight into cheap mechanical engineering programme will be eyeing this path. so be aware of what u're opting into.

Hey TS, I just found this thread out and things related with the Diploma in UTMSpace.
I'm looking forward to apply for it too but I wonder the result we have to fill is SPM forecast or actual result? Did you applied?

I saw that the entry form has an option which says GCE O' Level results,
I did Cambridge GCE O' Levels last year and I also did SPM as well, got five As in O' Level, waiting for SPM results tomorrow.

I want to ask if my SPM results are not as good as my GCE results, can I apply with my Cambridge O' Level results instead?

Thanks!!
