Check the following:
1. Dead pixels
2. Circle pad (I bought a 3DS XL where the circle pad is glued back together because it was broken)
3. Charger (able to charge)
4. Weird dents (probably user drop before)
5. Confirm device can access Eshop (Nintendo could've ban the device)

Ask for receipt for proof of original date of purchase.
could be longer than 6 months (maybe already 3rd hand).
Then can bargain for lower.

There's a way. Someone has to sacrifice own self and claim that the code doesn't work. Then ask seller steps to claim back. After that, see if the original seller can trace back the buyer.

Can Kyo ask his distributor if they recognise the control number?
