i have a son with high level autism. It's ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome. Let me know if any father have questions.

There is another thread on autism but not one seems to be interested to contribute. In fact according the austism educators a lot of parents are still denial about their kids having autism. A lot of autism are mild and the child will look normal but they have temper issue and speech issue which the parent do not want to seek help. They keep denying their kids having problem and afraid that their child get labelled as "crazy" or "nuts".

Plus a lot of old folks (the grandparents) who knows nothing about autism simple says things. They just get info from other grandparents and say the child is ok, no problem..the issue will "go away" when the child grow up. By the time they grow up as teen, it will be too late to seek help.

Autism never go away. It can be intervened. The child will be taught how to handle his/her issue but there is NO CURE for it.

Hi Abubin, what are the symptoms parents should look out for? Sometimes it's very similar to growing stages of a child so some children are faster some are slower.

yup, it is hard to detect especially if your child is too young. For a proper diagnostic by psychologist, they recommend the child to be at least 5yo.

Most of the times, you can tell by they way the think. However, it depends on what kind of autism your child is having. You can compare the symtoms in websites that list them.

For example, my son's asperger syndrome has these symtoms:

difficulty making friends of the same age, children with AS may feel more comfortable with adults or much younger children
engages in one-sided, long-winded conversations, without noticing if the listener is still listening or trying to change the subject
displays unusual nonverbal communication, such as lack of eye contact, few facial expressions, or awkward body postures and gestures
does not empathize with or seems insensitive to others’ feelings and has a hard time “reading” other people or may have difficulty understanding humor
doesn’t understand the give-and-take of conversation or engage in “small talk”
seems egocentric or self-absorbed
may speak in a voice that is monotone, rigid, jerky or unusually fast
may be extremely literal or have difficulty understanding the nuances of language, despite having a good vocabulary

even you not plan to breast feed.. but u need to make sure for the first few days need to breast feed as first few days ur waifu will produce somehig call colostrum which produce great antibodies for u new born.. go n google..

unless there is a reason not to breast feed, I think all mothers should go for breastfeeding. Cause the benefit is a long term for the child and mother. If your wife do not want to breastfeed...tell her it will enlarge her breast size by 1-2 cup. drool.gif

Hope your kid will be fine soon!

stomach flu is basically the flu virus got into the stomach. Usually it starts off as normal flu in the nose or throat. Eventually the virus will get into stomach. This is pretty common. Just need to let them build up their immunity as virus cannot be killed. Yup..vomit is really common with stomach flu. Poor kids.

Baby only 6days old. My wife is in confinement so she doesn't breastfeed and only do pump in bottle.
While I Wan to let my wife rest during this 1 month. I have to do all these bottle feeding.
*
confinement is an excuse create by Chinese to make money. Though I agree, it is somewhat helpful to let the mother rest after 10 months of suffering, there is not stopping a mom from working after few days of rest since child birth. I know a lot of moms especially more western educated ones go to work after 1 week of resting. Confinement is not neccessary if the mother take care of herself by not going back to full living like liquor or cigarette or heavy activity. And breastfeeding is especially no problem. Whoever said not to breastfeed the baby is directly is a moron. You can have the choice of pumping the milk or not, it's up to you but don't listen to all those old people who knows shit about breastfeeding.

I know most old people will say to stop breastfeeding because initially there will be less milk for the baby as the breast is not producing enough milk yet. So the old folks will be complaining and saying baby always cry not enough milk. Don't give in. That is how it works and persist for a little longer. If after 1 month still like that then probably the mother is not suitable to breastfeed. Then only decide to give bottle milk.

Goodluck.

What we normally do is, day time breastfeed (BM) and nite time we use Formula milk.. cos if bf, normally baby will wake up every 2hrs as they hungry.
*
Thats pretty normal. It is the cycle of breastfeed. You need to be persistent about it and only do breastfeed. Else you will get the baby confused. It's not easy but if the mother can do it then do it. After a while, the breast will create more milk and it will slowly ease of both baby and mother. Keep it up.
