QUOTE(Yveatel @ May 6 2016, 04:15 PM) CHECK-IN!! Father in 3 months time!!! Just excited now. Got some baby stuffs at BabyWorld the other day. congrats bro. you will still need a lot of stuff hahaha. heres a small list from top of my head to give you some ideas. Got breast pump, warmer, steriliser, and couple of bottles. Anything else I really need to prepare? just some random stuff to consider: highly recommended: - nappy cloth. i dunno what its called. in aeon they got, its square shaped i think like 10pcs for RM10-20 or something. useful for everything. the more you wash it gets softer. so can prewash a few times before use. can also be used for a swaddle. - baby powder (use pure cornstarch - talc is too fine and can be inhaled and shouldnt be used.) - get a good nappy cream (i use sudocreme, but there are others - can get from most pharmacies) - cloth to wrap the baby's tummy. dunno the name, its just to wrap around the abdomen before the umbilical cord falls out. just to protect from getting sangkut on baju and stuff. ouch. - nail clipper - i used the scissors shaped one. need to clip quite often otherwise they wlll scratch themselves. can use mittens if you want, but in the end still need to clip the nails. - nipple cream - should use 2 weeks prior to delivering baby or something like that, its expensive though. but your wife will thank you. - cotton balls - to bathe and clean the baby. nurse will teach you. - creams and oils. - bottle cleaner scrub brush thing and liquid cleaner for bottle. - bottle drying rack - car seat. better if you can just borrow one from someone as they will outgrow it in 6 months. pointless to spend so much for the first few months and then buy another one. unless you buy the really good ones that can convert. - stroller - again, get ones that can convert, or just borrow from someone. sweet cherry are decent quality and also look good. i had a quinny from a friend but its way too heavy and big. recommended: - wet wipes - always handy for emergency spills or flying pee - baby bath tub - organic baby soap (i thought to use cheap one, but after seeing my baby, terus went to buy the organic stuff hahaha. i think like RM60 for 120ml or something. but lasts a long time, so worth it lah). not urgent: - many toys - they dont play much. just sleep and eat. you are entertaining enough for bebeh. hopefully hahahah. jk jk. plus for the first month i think they cant see anyways. can just print out some strong contrast B&W images for entertainment. - diapers - depending on hospital, they will give you a few samples, test those out before buying a bunch of diapers. some will get rash, or not comfortable for baby etc. phew... longer than i thought. got carried away hahaha. also, if your wife got a lot of milk, you can consider looking for breast milk storage bags, then can freeze and use for later. like if your wife wanna go jalan or work, then you can still give BM rather than formula. congrats and welcome aboard. its gonna be crazy, but will be the best time of your life too. |

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ May 16 2016, 10:59 AM) Was eating out with in laws family at one Sri Petaling restaurant (opposite the hotel) . Business were good but NOT BABY FRIENDLY. They have over 50 tables sprawled until sidewalks and just SIX BABY CHAIRS. Need to wait 30 minute to "stalk" the next table finish eating and book their baby chair. yeah. i dont understand why they dont get more chairs. just stack them up.... good work on passing the chair over. To return the favor to other late diners.... We took initiative to carry the baby chair to nearby table after we done eating coz they also struggled to hold their baby on lap. |

QUOTE(Yveatel @ Jun 6 2016, 03:16 PM) May I know which hospital? Its for the safety of the baby. Not for convenience. Even a small pillow or even a cloth on the baby's face he/ she won't be able to remove it and would suffocatehahaha, my mum said the same thing... not even in the first month for the convenient of breast feeding? |

QUOTE(Yveatel @ Jun 8 2016, 11:29 AM) not 100% but there is a higher chance of suffocation via object covering them or parents rolling over, or pushing them off bed, or hitting them or SIDS. etc and so forth. its not worth it. people say 'get closer to baby' or 'more convenient'. also more convenient for baby to die. |

QUOTE(Necrosis @ Jun 15 2016, 01:59 PM) Guys, is sex during first few weeks of pregnancy completely safe for the baby (which would be just the size of lentil at that time, before heart is even formed)? it is safe i guess. most people actually dont know they are pregnant till after those first few weeks passed already . she might experience a bit of bleeding though. but best to avoid it. we didnt even know my wife was expecting till like 4-5 weeks. we were on holiday. snorkeling running around bangkok and phuket ahaha. all ok. |

QUOTE(Necrosis @ Jun 15 2016, 02:41 PM) We just discovered about the pregnancy two weeks ago. Last night ultrasound, doc said pregnancy age is plus minus 6 weeks. In two weeks time, should be able to see the heart. yeah. see. already passed the first few weeks hehe. yeah its a bit scary at first, but it is pretty awesome.Man this whole thing is very new. Before this see my friends/relatives got married and have kids I was like oh okay that's how life is. Now that it's happening to me, it's quite something to experience. |

ASB or Tabung Haji per say.. any advice on son's savings would be helpful. my son got TH, but dont put in money that often. but ada lah, duit raya, or some cash given from friends and such. but ada lah. sikit sikit jadi bukit. but if you have the funds, can do one of those FD type accounts. my cash is unstable so dont wanna commit to those. |

QUOTE(dark90 @ Jun 29 2016, 02:34 PM) I was thinking of doing something like 20RM monthly to his TH account.. it should help once he starts school or college right? MB2U does have the option to transfer automatically to TH account right? yeah. can open a TH account for the kid as long as you have an account at TH as well. mine just got RM50 inside. M2U can transfer money to TH account, but not sure about automatically. The cost is RM1 per transaction if im not mistaken. well maybe 1.06 now. You need to register parent and child account at the ATM first. then can use online facility after 2-3 days verification. i wouldnt say that RM20/month will help too much. only about RM4.3k at 18yo (w/o interest). but its better than nothing. can cover some costs or maybe DP for car? or wedding. heh. I am considering moving my sons account to ASB though as the rates are better. went to TH initially just because ASB previously didnt accept babies. or something like that. but now seems they've opened up. |

QUOTE(dark90 @ Jun 29 2016, 02:49 PM) Oh wow, right2. how to open account in ASB though? I need to go to banks is it? i tried opening online, doesn't seem to work. Sorry for all these questions as my dad is no longer around and my elder siblings are far. so dont really have sifus to ask about these things. no prob. can help where i can. if you are bumi you can open an ASB account easily with a max limit of RM200k. but to my knowledge need to go to the bank to do it as they will give you a passbook. i opened super long time ago when i was only like 12 yo. so dont really remember if can open at all banks or need to specifically go to HQ. but if you are in KL, just go in the morning to the HQ. got free parking and i think they open at like 830am. i went there to replace my lost books. and dont have to wait long at all like 5-10 mins all settle. should be roughly the same. if you are non-bumi then im not entirely sure, there are shares available, but not sure on the process and seems hard to get funds, that one need to ask in the ASB sifu thread in finance section of LYN. |
