Hi, currently my ipad mini first generation is still running on IOS 6.1 smoothly.

But last week, my sister want to download an new app from App Store, but it shows :
"This application requires IOS 7.0 or later. You must update to IOS 7.0 in order
to download and use this application."

So my question is,

1) can I update my ipad mini to IOS7.0 to meet the requirement but
not to the latest IOS 9, due to the online review state the poor performance of
ipad mini 1st gen on IOS 9, includes can slow down ipad mini.

2) Other than updating the IOS, is there any other way to install new app on IOS 6.1?
I really want to stay on IOS 6.1 as this IOS version run perfectly on my ipad mini
1st gen smoothly and stable.

Thanks.

Hi...it is better to just ignore that app and move on lol...

The moment you upgrade your iPad Mini to iOS 7 or iOS 9, say goodbye to your ipad mini, can sell away already

I upgraded my iPad Mini 2 to iOS 9, and now its super lag and sometimes not responsive, my friends' ipad mini and ipad air also experience same thing...very regret to upgrade, its Apple marketing strategy to force you to buy latest model
