Why ? Just go for it. You can use EPF withdrawal for 3% sales charge.

1k - 49k = Sales charge 3%
50k - 99k = Sales charge 2.5%
100k and above = sales charge 2%

Normal charge 5% - Special rate 3% = 2% Rebate to your saving account.

Normally if you guys manage to topup online, will u go to bank to update passbook the next day (like urgently) or you can trust the system and update passbook a long time after that?

You can deposit to another person's account over the counter or online. I've done that both at Maybank, and CIMB, online and OTC.  You'd only need the account number, ic number and full name. No need surat wakil whatsoever.
