I hope this is the right section to post this topic.

Anyway, I am considering to start up a gym probably in 3-4 years time. The concept I have in mind is something like Jatomi Fitness or Pure Fitness Singapore. Of course I have more ideas in mind to try beat or at least match with all the well known gym.

1. Just would like to know what is the minimum capital I need to have? Equipments, Electricity, Maintanenance, Staffing etc.

2. For new gyms, what are the advertising costs?

Forgive me if I'm asking irrelevant questions because I just started working recently less than a year ago. However, I am trying to have future plans.

Thanks in advance 😬

yea, people are cutting back to necessities only..
My recommendation is just buy those old dance studios..
and start from there... probably cost you around 10k-50k max...

Browse thru mudah business for sale

Most of it are

- restaurant/ cafe
- saloon
- laundry business
- tuition / nursery
- car wash

Then there are
- gym
- car workshop
- budget hotels

And most of the reason are
Owner migrating.

Haha..

if you are really really serious:

#1 Take down the brand of the machine you wish to carry, refer to google, send the company an email (or call them up) they will give you a price list.

#2 Find a contractor, pay him like rm 200-300 for `consultancy` bring him to the gym (tell the gym u r looking around), then ask him how much to get it up.

#3 Marketing & operational cost, take cost of #1 + #2 , double that.

Finished.

One of those industrial strength machines (threadmill, etc) costs RM20K++. Per machine.

You can get lower end ones, of course, but you put them in a gym with frequent use, they will last about 3 months, or less.

The rest, you can do the maths.

I am in the fitness industry

My view is that traditional gym and equipement will die out soon.

People are migrating towards exercising at home with those HIIT workout, or using resistance band to exercise, its cheap, high mobility, and you can do it anywhere, long gone the big, bulky, expensive home gym system. Works the same, produce the same results.

Not everyone wanna be a body builder, they just want to be not overweight, online personal training will be the future where trainer can train their client at home.

Or atleast a studio is still survival-able. Members pay the same fees to join classes, minus the need to pay for expensive equipments. But just the rent and instructor salary/ commission.
