Psalm 10:4 (NIV)
In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.

Romans 1:18-22 (NIV)
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

People who are vehemently (on purpose) against God are left alone to the corruption of Sin which will drive them deeper into a depraved mind.
Deprave Mind will result the fruits of the following verses:

29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

Hebrews 11:1

(NIV) - Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

(AMP) - Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].

The World's definition of Faith is different from the one how the Holy Spirit define. The World's definition is one that means uncertainty, obscure and at times indicate blind type of Faith. They'll use the word, faith needs no reason.

God's definition of Faith is different and opposite of how the world defines its. It is one of certainty, clarity and of confident Hope. As Christians we all know Hebrews 11:1. Faith is the CONFIDENCE.......

In the Amplified version it says Faith is the Title Deed.... A Title deed is a legal binding RIGHT to claim your property. When you have a title deed in your hands, You know there is no argument. The property is legally yours. My friends, that is the accurate definition of Faith as how God wants us to understand and how He wants us to exhibit in confidence.

When you exhibit Faith in this manner, Jesus our God says this: Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

God Bless.

Okay but you hold the title deed to your claims. Believe it's a done deal in Christ.

I think in churches some members have this traits. Not murder of course. God forbid.  sweat.gif

Every Christian (You and I ) started from that background, sinners. Not all of us automatically change over night. Change is always a journey in life. Only thing is some people grow slower, some very much slower than others.

Here is the key difference, unbelievers cannot change no matter how strong their will power is and do not see a need for and neither may desire for a change; so this depravity keep spiraling on.
Believers on the other hand have the Holy Spirit in them to help them be a changed person and can appeal to God for a desire to change.

Another thing is, we have to dispense grace as how God gave us his grace. When they accepted Christ, we need to see them as how God see's them. If God calls them saved and Saint by the washing of his blood despite of their imperfection, then we also need to see them in the same light as how God sees them. This is the part Jesus says do not judge less you be judge, forgive and you'll be forgiven.

Romans 1:18-19 (NIV) - 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

There are plenty of evidences that God has left with us to help us see that He exist.

We have Jesus Christ, recorded historically. He is the Physical evidence of God. People who demand evidence just need to Look to Jesus Christ. Nobody could refute his existence. There are some who tried but all FAILED to proved otherwise, just mere word of saying he doesn't exist does not prove anything. We have archeological evidence of Christ, We have History record of Christ. Jesus Christ is a real person who came. Study his life on Earth, you'll easily see He displayed the divine nature and power of God. Before the inventions of magic trickery through gadgets, nobody could walk on water. Nature obeyed Him at his word. The dead came back to Life. People afflicted with all kind of Illness, Health problems, terminal health condition were made Whole by his touch or word. Only a God can do all these.

There are just too many books and autobiography of the past saints of God confirming the works and divine nature of God. Recently I came across a book that talked about a Saint who raised 400 dead people and it was recorded down in writing. There are many more others accounts of miracle that testify the reality of God. What I've experience in my own life is miniscule in comparison the awesome display of God's Power and YET it is still a miracle nonetheless. Miracles that confirmed what is said in the Bible is true.

Psalm 19:1 of David says: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. The Creation of this world testify the reality of God. This world did not come by itself neither it can exist by itself. It does not make sense to say it has always existed. The concept of eternity does not make sense Scientifically. Evolution does not disprove God. It only confirm the wonderful works of God. God created the very first Humans and allow nature which is also his design to take it's course.

Then we have Israel. Everything that happens in this world, the focus has always been in the middle east with Israel as the star. Why is Israel important? Why are they so hated? Because Israel testify the evidence that God exist. How So? When the Jews possessed the land, that land prospered as a land flowing with Milk and Honey symbolising prosperity as blessed by God. Before that it was desolated land, dry land with no resources. The people who lived there before, couldn't do what the Jews did. The Jew influence the world with their inventions, they are one of the most brilliant people on the planet. They are blessed and prospered tiny nation with God backing them up. The 6 days war PROVED that God is with Israel, multiple nations came against attacking 1 small nation and yet Israel prevailed, defying logic. No powers on Earth could destroyed Israel If God would not permit it. Not even Hitler.

Then We have the Church as the greatest testimony to this lost World. The Church is the Body of Christ meaning the physical manifestation of who God is. We now represent His Kingdom. It is not a surprise we are the largest religion in the world because God is the who pulls in the people and the resources. Nobody can gathered that many people and yet can be united in prayers and came together as one If not for God as the one supporting and backing up His people. The world's organization can only last so long. Even centuries old company are at most centuries old. The Church is the testimony that God is real.

God Bless

Your Faith is the Title Deed to claim what you have prayed to God.

QUOTE(tinarhian @ Feb 18 2016, 09:45 PM)
Yeah so different people require different spiritual growth. Kinda like my brother. He's smart but likes to ask universal questions regarding God, life, etc..

So how do you expect non believers to "acquire" the Holy Spirit? I mean besides praying of course.

My older sister is beginning to lean towards God now. Thank goodness! I almost lose hope for her.
*
Non Believers all have the stigma of Sin and thus has this resistance & sometime hatred towards God.

Unless someone pray for God to work in their life to be open, they cannot receive the Holy Spirit.

You MUST pray for your family, it's not an option.

Hebrews 12:5 (NIV)

5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,

In the context of Hebrews 12:5, If you read the preceding verse 4, God still call you as his children despite of your imperfection. Child of God means one who is saved.
Herein Lies the evidence that even though you may fail (meaning to "sin") in your Christian walk you are STILL Saved. This is not about Calvinism vs Arminianism theology but Word of God as it is.

Verse 4 says: 4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood

What verse 4 & 5 is basically saying in simple English is this:

You don't really have the tenacity & strength to resist Sin because you have not done it to the point of chopping off your arm or gouging out your eyes and yet You have forgotten this encouragement, that God still calls you as his Son & Daughter despite of your struggle. Don't think When God discipline you in your life to avoid coming in contact with things that can cause you to sin is nothing in essence. Look at it from the viewpoint of a Loving Father. It will help you not grow weary and lose heart.

So Endure this disciple even though it is uncomfortable because by this discomfort, you know God is treating you as Sons & Daughters that He Love. You are DEFINITELY SAVED, dearly beloved.

God Bless.

I know my parents must have prayed for me because I was the rebellious child. I thanked God for showing me the way of life and I did a 360° with my life. Alas my father died before he can see my wedding.  sad.gif

My brother is a tough one. Because he spends most of his time with playing games, and his GFs. How the heck do I convince him to turn to God? Because during the weekend we would go to see our local football team play.  brows.gif

On Sunday only me and my mum go to church. The bloody wanker would just sleep till we come back from church.

I shall continue to pray for my family. Hopefully my mum relatives (mostly Buddhists) can sway too. hehe..

I heard this many a time. Some said, Oh God hasn't open his eyes yet or God haven't touch him yet.

So theoretically, can one say, he is a non-believer bcos God haven't touch him or open his heart? So no fault of theirs?

I am always confuse on this one. I am a believer because I have experience the miracle of God.

My son used to go to church at one point and I was kind of surprise and proud of him too.

It started many years ago when 1 of this friend invited him. So one day he decided to go and meet his friend there.

The funny thing is since there's a couple of church there, he went to the different church that was attended by this friend and he continue continue attending the same church for, I would say, a couple of years.

Then for some reason, he stopped and he begin to view Christian negatively and in a bad light.

Honestly, some of his point I do kind of agreed with him and I did advise him that those are not the fault of God but human itself but to no avail.

We use to argue alot on this matter and I came to realise that I need to back down else its going to make him hate Christian more.

So I am waiting for him to go back to God before its too late.

I don't want to force my 2 kids to accept God like other religion do.

I myself used to attend churches during my teen and after I hd moved from place to place I kind of stop because I just can't find the right one.
*
What did your son say that causes him to view Christianity negatively and do you pray for him often?

You see, the problem is with the people. They fail to understand that whatever they said or do, they are bearing witness as children of God. Some of them (not teen mind you but older person) said thing that hurt his feeling.

No, my son is not the sensitive type. He can take 'joke' with stride. The good point about my son is I find he is a very polite person. He greed people, instantly even when he sees neigbour who are few doors away who hardly can hear him!

Of course he had his far share of down side too. You know, young man, kind of ego but usually not to those who is not close.

One of the main reason I myself did not attend churches is because of almost the same reason but I did not let him know. Hypocrisy. Now before you go telling me do not judge people, this is the most glaring problem most of the people who attended churches today are. And the reason many would be believer being turn off from accepting God.

My only word of advise I can give him is you cannot burn the whole forest just because of a few bad trees.
*
Yes every christians are bearing as christ's representative, true but even Paul made this astounding statement that helped me (in understanding) to properly divide
how to view Church and Christians.

Philippians 3:8 (NIV) - What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ.

A Pastor, Deacon, whichever christian can only go so far to be representative of who Christ is but They cannot be our very Lord Jesus Christ, no matter what.
As Christians we still need to look to Christ instead of looking to people as role model in Church and especially in Church!

And that is the key difference in helping us to stay in Church or stay away from Church. And I think I've said before prayer for your family is not an option, you have to pray everyday. And I think it's worth repeating this, if you want to see change then get on your knees and pray aggressively because that is what help us connect to God everyday.

With that being said; I mean consider the Apostles, even they admonished the church of that time not to look to them but to Christ.

Acts 14:15 (NIV) - "Friends, why are you doing this? We too are only human, like you. We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made the heavens and the earth and the sea and everything in them.

Acts 10:26 (NIV) - But Peter made him get up. "Stand up," he said, "I am only a man myself."

Well, I don't think he is looking up for anyone as a role model.

I strongly believe those who are so pious as to attend churches without fail should at least 'check' on themselves constantly which is very important for  Christianity to be accepted by new believer.

My take. You don't go round telling non-believer how good your God is without asking. You should bear witness to others how good your God is and let them ask you about it.

My only hope is that in time to come when he is more mature he will go back to God.
*
Maybe he's looking up to you as one. If you don't go, he may also find it not much of a reason to go.

Yes every Christian should check themselves but I can confidently tell you, none of them are perfect, no one is. In this area we should all exhibit grace and be forgiving because we must remember even yourself and myself we're not perfect, we need as much grace as they do.

I'm not talking about people who on purpose exhibit contradictory lifestyle but people who desire change, understand the gospel but still on a journey with God may have make mistake at times. These we should be forgiving but you if hold them tight with high expectation THEN you need to check yourself if you qualify to judge them, whether your own log in the eye has been taken out.

Another reason is probably because of the contradiction that was said. They said such and such are sins, but they themselves did those and still dare to condemn others. I guess this is why people are irked.

Erm, how do you know they have done the same sin?

It's just like one of the case where a leader condemns extra marital affair and he did it himself. I'm not saying the Church is wrong in this case, but rather why people would feel the hypocrisy from the things some people did. Well, I take these accounts as a lesson, that when we try to tell someone who did something wrong, check on ourselves whether we did the same mistake too, and what we did to correct it. It makes the advice more convincing.
*
Actually I did not ask to explain what you mean by "checking yourself", I'm well aware of what it means but how do you know if a leader has committed a sin he preached against?

That's a different question.

I guess probably he regretted a lot. But I could not find reference as to how the story goes.

And also, do u think Pontius Pilate is the bad guy? Coz I find it rather "odd" when reciting the Apostle's Creed. I always think of him less "bad" but more "political". And I never understand why there are so many people wanted Jesus dead.
*
He was more on fire for God so to speak understanding the Grace of God which is really the essence of the Gospel. What happened to him has recorded account in the book of Acts.

I think Pontius didn't want to crucify Jesus but was forced by peer pressure from the High Priest Gang. If you ask me I don't think he's really a bad guy but then that's human pov.

Well, like I said 'I don't think he is looking up for anyone as a role model' and not even me.

Let me get this straight ok. I am not asking for those so call pious christian to be perfect or anyone else to be perfect. No one is perfect. But do 'DO onto others what you want other to do upon you' is my motto here.

I  notice that usually, usually those who profess/present themselves to be 'close' to God are the one who are most 'disgraceful' in a sense. They seems to think that what they do or act are in God's approval. The same goes to those practicing other religion too.

And THIS 'These we should be forgiving but you if hold them tight with high expectation THEN you need to check yourself if you qualify to judge them, whether your own log in the eye has been taken out.' is something which I know will be said sooner or later.

Yes, yes, and yes, we are not perfect but how do you differentiate between a comment and a 'judgement'? I know what God said about judging others. In life, we make decision by 'judging', don't we not? 'Judging' in a good way. There's no progress without good judgement.

I don't go to church for donkey years now but I am not a backslider and I am always being criticized by some so called pious christian for not going to church (not saying you).

Acknowledge THAT is the problem and issue needed to be address and not kill the messenger by saying 'if hold them tight with high expectation THEN you need to check yourself if you qualify to judge them, whether your own log in the eye has been taken out.'

So, the bottom line is, pastors should take note and do the necessary to make churches the true house of God.
*
You sure? Most kids do look up to their dad, it's a paternal thing.

Yes not saying you're wrong to expect Church leaders to live up to the standard but if you can just calm down and understand what I'm trying to say, it's a duality situation.

On one hand you can expect but at the same time, as a christian, you exhibit grace as well.

Comment and Judging? I think Luke is quite clear.

Luke 6:37 (NIV)
"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

That is related to

John 8:7 (NIV)
When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her."

I think the problem is that many christians forgotten we're all represented as "her" in that incident.

Sorry to say this but it does not look like that (Luke) addresses the question - comment and judging.

I would say those quote are frequently being misused.

And I forgot to mentioned that its forgiven and we move on, really.

UPdate: and I forgot to mentioned your 1st point. Well not looking up to me in this thing is what I am saying. Those years that he attended church willingly, I wasn't even gone to one.
*
I think all kids do look up to their dad whether for the good or bad and whether we want to acknowledge or not. Children naturally do emulate and become some part of what the parent is.

Will talk to you about the judging part later this evening.

You can be an encouragement to him, something that can make him think like, Hey Dad I know there are people who may have offended you but you still go to Church regardless...hence when you talk about not burning the whole forest despite a few bad trees is shown in what you've said.

As Fathers we are called to lead in the family, that's our role. So I encourage you, go to Church not solely because of people but because of God.
