I think you need to call TMnut and fix the cables around your house. Rusting is a big problem in hot and wet weather like ours.

Ok I'll let the debate sifu handle this from now on.

Nah don't worry about it, this sort of questioning is okay IMO. People need to know the truth about God and it is questions like this that gives the opportunity.

What we don't want are the likes of Sylar or chatwarrior where they go overboard and out of their place bashing and condemning.

Of course, you don't take it as the truth. It's only a TV series.

But in the video, Chuck (God) did not say he has completely disappeared. At 2:42, God (chuck) was implying he was trying not to be OVER-INVOLVED. He did not say that he did nothing at all.

To be clear, this means he ALLOWED humanity's free will to take its course by not being too overly-involved like how he did in the ancient times.
*
Yes of course..TV series...but still

God has always allow Free Will to take it's course, that is never an issue.

That is well established and the very reason why He put the forbidden tree in the garden of Eden to proof it.

One thing for sure.

God is over-involved in the lives of believers and the things we pray for.

He is not obligated to people who never subscribe to Him nor believes in Him.

That is true back then and is still true now.

Back then.....God travelled with The children of israel as Pillar of fire in the night and Glorious Shekinah cloud by day, that denotes closeness.

Today God lives in the Heart of Christians, his spirit is with us.

That makes the contrast difference.

Exactly. In the video, he mentioned that he was HANDS-ON, and VERY HANDS ON, which is exactly about the stories about the Bible.

However after that, God appears to be less involved in the modern world, and I believe it is why Chuck (God) in that clip said he was trying to not over-involved in the sense that he is not going to physically affect the world directly like how he did in the plague of Egypt, but instead, decided to work through humans instead.

I sincerely think that the god of the bible was MORE involved in comparison to today's god's involvement. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying god is not involved in this sense, it simply means there should be a good reason why there are less convincing stories in the modern world about god than the ones portrayed in the bible. For example, in the bible, you can read how god talks. But did anyone recorded him to talk clearly with clear messages in today's modern world? I sincerely think this is what the clip in the video means by not being OVER-involved. he will or will not answer prayers, but he will definitely not suddenly reveal a glory of light or any sort of special effects just to make a point.
*
Well the Bible is God's word and is sufficient as a record for Him to talk to you in today's modern world. That is the physical, tangible which you can see.

And There is a reason why God isn't showing Himself empirically as He did back then. It all has to do with Jesus Christ.

It started at the Emmaus Road where even the 2 disciple of Christ was not given the privilege of recognizing God as they should have..even though He was walking with them. (this is after the resurrection) Why?

The Gospel has to do with........Righteousness by Faith. Believing despite of not seeing God with the physical eye.

So that everyone gets an equal chance to be saved not by their own effort or works.

Because God knows If He shows Himself empirically (which He will in 2nd coming), there will still be naysayers.

God is being Fair to everyone.

That is only the start of it.

Doesn't mean that after you believe in God, you're left desolated. God reveals Himself more and more to people who have relationship with Him. More and More tangible proof...valid and granted to and for believers by his grace.

Fair point.

Now would y'all like to see how Lucifer (the Devil) argues with God?

*
I find that this is just a good example of how bad the knowledge secular people have about God, Lucifer, Angels.

Not even close.

Satan is portrayed in secular movie as some powerful being, scary, and that we human are vulnerable, God is not doing much to protect people who have come under his attack and that God is sometime taken surprise by satan's wits and trying to catch up to Satan in patching damage repair. This is seen in many horror movies or those demon possessed sort of movie.

However unknown to many..(and I'm very serious) in the Christian community Satan is portrayed as already defeated and always loses to God and in fact Satan is the one trying to catch up as he is many steps behind. Satan is just a created being. God is not. He has always existed and stands as God alone.

Why do we say that Satan always loses to God? Because God is omnipotent, omniscience and omnipresence..Satan is not and never was. Satan is not all knowing, cannot be everywhere at the same time and is very far in comparison when it comes to divine power. In a match of 1 vs 1, Satan is like between David vs Goliath where Goliath is seen as towering experienced combat warrior-giant, intimidating by sight and that David is seen as scrawny and skinny small shepherd boy and yet David won by using weak things like stone pebbles. God is like that, "look" subtle and yet is far more immensely powerful. This is not always the case. In Heaven, the sight of God is immensely awesome and causes one to bow down in adoration and worship.

And the one thing coming from God that got Satan is the Grace of God where he has no legal ground to claim the lives of redeemed believers. Grace of God is the magnificent wisdom that outwitted Satan. That is why we Christians exalts God's Grace.

Sure we are both created beings (Man and Angels) but our position as Sons...are different. Angels are Messengers or Divine Servants of God. Man are Children of God in the paternal sense.

When Angel sin, they do not have redeeming chance as Man does. (2 Peter 2:4)

Man is given the authority to Judge Fallen Angels (1 Corinthians 6:3)

And here is the evidence, the tv series portrayal of Satan as son is a bad error.

Hebrews 1:5-7 (NIV)

5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,

“You are my Son;
today I have become your Father” ?

Or again,

“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son” ?

6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,

“Let all God’s angels worship him.”

7 In speaking of the angels he says,

“He makes his angels spirits,
and his servants flames of fire.”

No Angels have that privilege..not even Satan. My point is, if that point as portrayed in the TV series is an error, the rest of the enactment gives all the more reason to doubt as something correct.
We can watch the show for entertainment purpose.....but to take that as reality of how God really is like with Satan would lead to problems.

Problem of trusting God, problem of having paranoid fear of many things.

It's obviously only a TV-series, and nobody said it should be held as the testament of truth. But it sure raises some questions, of course. You have fair points, but I don't think that's the point of the scene, though. Never in that scene ever implied that God was caught by surprise by the wits of Lucifer.

The point was, perhaps, this question:

"Was Lucifer, perhaps just being emotional (therefore perhaps, understandable), and was God, perhaps being concerned about being right / righteous, and ended up not understanding emotional-related actions (Sam mentions in the scene that sometimes we have to apologise, because it's not always about whether you do something wrong or not, kind of like an apology to your own father or son in human lives whenever they argue)"
*
You'll be surprise some people actually do take info from TV shows as reference, I mean there are people who rely on sayings on the internet as reference to God when they have nothing to refer to.

Angels don't react from emotions. They are divine beings. Lucifer knew what he was doing. The bible so far have no reference whatsoever of Angels reacting from mistakes or emotions.

God has to be concern with what is right or righteous else we will have a chaotic world to live in which we actually are in...right now.

God can understand everything but like I said before, Angels don't have that sort of chance with God as Man does.

God on the other hand do empathize with us, more than with the Angels...do you know that?

It wasn't done because he was being emotional.

Aren't those emotional-related actions? Of course it was intentional, but it was also emotional, correct?
*
As far as I've studied scripture, Yes they do have emotions but angels never act on emotions or compulsiveness.

They either completely obey God or they don't. And Yes they have free will as much as Man does.

But they don't react like Human do.

May I kindly read the bible passage that says this? I can't seem to find it in mine.

Rather...there are no accounts of Angels acting on emotions, none whatsoever in the Bible.

But plenty recorded to help us understand Angels act in servitude and obedience to God.

Psalm 103:20 (NIV) - Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word.
Hebrews 1:14 (NIV) - Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
Daniel 6:22 (NIV) - My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty."
Psalm 34:7 (NIV) - The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, And rescues them.

If you want to talk about Satan revolt, here is part of the account in scripture

Isaiah 14:12-15

12 How you have fallen from heaven,
morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!

13 You said in your heart,
“I will ascend to the heavens;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.b

14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High.”

15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead,
to the depths of the pit.

Satan decided in his heart on purpose....never He acted on compulsive emotion. The word "Said" in the Hebrew is "Amar" which means to "utter".

Here is another one in New Testament

Revelations 13:5-8 (NIV)

5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.

If you see...That is purposely or willful disobedience.......not done out of being blur or emotions but knows what he's doing.

Common bro, give me that benefit of doubt, I think I know my Bible better than most agnostic or atheists.

The whole problem with this idea we're thinking from human perspective...that Satan reacts emotionally compromised as human does when he decided to rebel against God. Satan is not even human.

QUOTE(tinarhian @ Oct 14 2016, 01:18 AM)
Fallen angels that sinned and rebelled against God is not because they over-reacted or being emotionally compulsive. They are just plainly disobeying God's commands.

But God didn't have a redemption plan for fallen angels. God's redemption plan is through Jesus Christ. Through God's grace mankind could be saved.

It never stated in the Bible that those fallen angels would repent either. So they really disobeyed God. They knew what they did was pure evil.
*
I believe the reason why they're not given chance is because they are not created as children in the paternal sense as we are and they see and know the truth of what is going on. They can see God. So if they rebel..they do so with a clear conscious.

We on the other hand were blinded by Satan and corrupted by Sin, thus do know what is going on in the spiritual realm and we cannot see God with the physical eye.

This is my personal opinion apart from scripture. I base this on the verse

John 9:41 (NIV) - Jesus said, "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

Actually I'm not intimidated by many questions. What I cannot accept is that Non Believers trying to enforce their view of what they think of God unto believers. What I mean is that we are one ones who holds this knowledge..I mean the Church as the defecto. And the world tells us we are wrong of the doctrines which we are more familiar with? I find that rather disrespectful. Nope.

Am I an evangelist for God? Yes I am.

I think what most Atheist cannot accept are the supernatural element.

But the basis of my argument against Atheist is that they don't understand the definition of God

For God to be God, the very definition of God means that He is above Logic. If Science wants to confine God to the limitation of Logic, then God is no longer God.

I've always felt This is the root struggle that Atheist are unable to overcome.

I'll just stop here.

UW, this is a common problem in less serious settings too. Like... fandoms. Sure always have a group of people who insist their ideas are right, even if it contradicts the source material.

We have this one case where the CREATOR of the series himself said that a certain event didn't happen. But got people who actually said the creator can fly far far away, their ideas are the only right one sweat.gif

My BF dealt with so many of these people ever since he got on the internet.

Different topic, same behaviour.

Atheist people have thousands of reason to not believe in God. The spectrum of their questions starts from the most silly to the most intelligent. Normally I don't like to argue or discuss apologetic with non-Christian if their intention is to challenge and not out of sincere curiosity. All the answer from the viewpoint of Christianity could be easily found in internet and literature.

Why Grace Matters Part 4

Romans 6:10-11 (NIV) -…10 The death He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God. 11 So you too must count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Good Day people of God,

I've put off this devotion for too long, it's part 4 and here it is.

In all the past 3 parts, I've showed you why Grace Matter in the building up of your spiritual faith. A friend asked me, what if God sees me..not being true in all my actions and effort before God. I told that person, when you accept Christ, God only see and recognize the work of Christ who represents you in qualifying you to heaven.

To further illustrate this, consider Romans 6:10-11 above.

Here it says the death that Jesus died, he died to sin once and for all. It's only once. Question. The focus here is the word "sin". In this context For what and why did Jesus die? Did He die because He committed sin?

Bible says He did not sin, in Him is no sin. Therefore Jesus died taking the imputation and judgement of YOUR Sins. He died only 1 time for that...the imputation and judgement which was meant for you.

And verse 11 says So you too must count yourself in the same way...DEAD to the imputation and Judgement.

That is why I've shared in all my devotions, your performance to be justified for Salvation does not matter any more.

Don't condemn yourself anymore for your weaknesses that you have even today.

If you say that as Christians, your performance does matter with regards to justification for Salvation then you MUST also likewise say that Jesus died for his performance of sin in the context of Romans 6:10-11. It is not isn't it?

If you understand the heart of God in Romans 6:10-11..God is saying don't be so conscious of your own flaws..don't be sin conscious anymore (why? Because Christ took care of that for you), but Start to be ALIVE to GOD in christ.

Start LIVING, dear brother and sisters. Live and breath easy, all the imputation and condemnation of all your sins has been arrested by Jesus ONCE...that bears no repetition.

Start declaring you are righteous in Christ even when you fall. That is the declaration of the life of Faith and it will bring you out of your bad habits. The Bible says it is the goodness of God that leads us to repentance. That goodness is call Grace. Keep on receiving it because it qualifies you.

God Bless.

Why Grace Matters Part 5

Colossians 3:3-3 (NIV) - For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

In part 4 of Grace Matter Devotion, I've shared,

When you accept Christ, God only see and recognize the work of Christ who represents you in qualifying you to heaven.

The supporting verse for this is found in Colossians 3:3-4 as above. That is why you can rest and breath easy. The curse of the Law has been broken and your sins have been forgiven on the account of the body of Christ at the cross, past, present and future, ALL OF IT! And the supporting verse for this ("ALL OF IT") is found in the previous devotion (Romans 6:10-11) in the word "ONCE FOR ALL".

Jesus atoning and redemptive work is once for ALL meaning ALL the imputation and condemnation of your sins has been borned in body of Christ Once AND for ALL.

How did God made this possible? When we put our Faith in Christ as Saviour, God put all your sins (as well your old self) in the body of Christ and your old self is dead - have died (past tense)...not you trying to die to your sins. I know this is what is taught in some church circle but it is grossly misunderstood.

Our current character and conduct dies daily step by step but our Sin judgment and imputation is a Once and for all! You must never confound these 2 and lump it together. What is the supporting verse for this statement? Colossians 3:3-4 as above and if you read, Hebrews 12:2, Philippians 1:6 and lastly 1 Corinthians 1:8, you will realize the focus of God eyes is always on Jesus, not you.

Why? Because of Colossians 3:3-4. You have died in the eyes of God, your old self status is done and dealt with...it's not a process.

But Some people really confound these 2 and consider their current action reflects their current status of one self. And that give rise to much confusion to the Christian Life that leads to the feeling of condemnation when you fail in your walk with God. Why? because you've never considered yourself dead...but very much alive. No friends, the Bible says For you died, fullstop.

And You need to take one step further. Not only must you consider yourself dead but you must consider that your life is now Hidden in Christ. What does that means?

Everyday your New identity before God has been redeemed in Christ. Is this true even when you fall and fail? YES! Where is the scripture text for this? It lies in the next verse.

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

Holy and Infallible scripture did not use a "maybe or "perhaps" but the word YOU ALSO meaning a definate WILL! This verse support the meaning of your Life being hidden in Christ. When Christ appears to rapture us, we will appear with Him in glory meaning to say, all these while He carry our Salvation, not us.

All the focus is on Christ our Lord. Why? Because it's by his Grace, we inherit all these. If it's dependant on your performance, your obedience to God, there will be uncertainty, there will be a "maybe or "perhaps".

BUT IF IT DEPENDS on our Lord Jesus Christ! Hallelujah! If the Son of God sets you free, you will be free indeed!

This is WHY GRACE MATTERS!

God Bless.

Why Grace Matters Part 6

Romans 10:3 (NIV) - Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.

Dear Friends,

Do you know that Righteousness under the New Covenant is a gift? Many interpret righteousness as something we do or don't do (Effort/Performance). People who don't understand the Righteousness of God inevitably will seek to establish their own, it is only natural. This is what it means in Romans 10:3.

I repeat if anyone does not understand that Righteousness of God is a Gift, that person will seek to establish their own righteousness based on performance, just like trying to perform well in examination.

A Very famous scripture verse which all Christians should know:

Seek First the kingdom of God and His Righteousness....(Matthew 6:33). Do you see that?

HIS Righteousness. Not yours, not your own. What is the Righteousness of God?

Answer is found in Romans 4:4-5 (NIV)

Now to the one who works, wages are not credited as a gift but as an obligation. However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.

It is something you cannot obtain. And yet we have some christian circle teaching, Work + Grace are needed for justification for Salvation. Or they may say that it's all by grace but....there is always a "but", implying condition.

What Romans 4:4-5 is saying is that, Grace is unlike Work, Because when one work, wages are given to you as an obligation. Something that you earned.

But when a person trust in God and not only that...He must trust in God who justify the ungodly! (you need to take that 1 step further) If you want to count your sins as something ungodly in this context, your faith in that is credited as Righteousness. In the midst if your sinning...despite of it...when you keep trusting in God in justifying the ungodly (your act of sin), your Faith is credited to you as Righteousness. Do you see that?

We can perfectly understand that God justify the Godly. Have you ever bother to think that God justify the ungodly in this verse? I can tell you for sure, many Christian just simply dismiss that verse as if it doesn't mean much. But if you think deep about it, it will bother you. Here is where the Church has missed it, I can name a few denominations.

That is what we need to seek according to Matthew 6:33 everyday. Yes Everyday! There is nothing for you to earn. Righteousness of God is not based on something that you perform Right. You can tie that into complying with 10 commandments.

Righteousness of God is something that you receive! Why do we need to do this? Answer is found in Romans 5:17. I want you to take your Bible and read Romans 5:17. I will explain this in chapter 7.

God Bless.
