Simple. Mine was actually a reflection of my own life. It's a personal experience.

How on earth this is "reflecting pride"?
*
Isn't LYN Official Atheist & Agnostic thread catered for each atheist to express their own personal experience in there?

I think it's reflecting pride when you refuse to share that platform and think your own personal experience is special that it deserve a thread by itself.

But it does not reach out to others who did not already understand atheism. That's the difference.

The reason why the AMA has to be out from the LYN Official Atheist & Agnostic thread was because it allows an avenue to people who are not atheist in order to understand what would make me, an ex-Christian to leave my religion to be an atheists.

And no, it's not about pride as you've put it. It's really for a cause, and that cause is simply a cause for reason and rationality.

Listen. The reason why I ask for your help and everyone else, while you may disagree with my views on religion, because I sincerely think it is important to let people know and at least to ask questions in order to let them find out and ask the questions they wanted on an atheist for the times they haven't tried asking. If anything, I am advocating for the freedom of belief and the freedom of disbelieve, and I thought I could find it here in the Chrsitian Lounge, due to my previous faith about Christians being not only the helpful folk, but the folks who are willing to be fair.

But if your answer is still no, then I was wrong about the last thing I thought I knew about being Christians, and that is the idea that Christians will never force people to join their religion and will also allow others to think for themselves so that what they believe or disbelieve anything blindly.

Still, after reflecting clearly, it was obvious why the moderators would take down my thread. I don't think most lowyat forummers are mature enough to open their minds to understand other world views, so whenever someone is rather forward about something new, I suppose that they will be threatened by their own "sensitivities" and decided that I am "dangerous" or something.

Thank you for showing the hospitality of Christians. I am now more convinced on why I left the religion.

And don't say "I'll pray for you", because I will reply "I'll think for you".

Goodbye.

P.S. I'm sure I will most likely be talked about in the future in this thread, but should you do not do so via PM with each other, well, please don't blame me if I will reply in accordance to it whenever it comes to any misconceptions.
No, it just means there has to be a definite clue, consistency, and evidence to be able to see the answer in order to be certain that prayer works or not.
You might need to get yourself a dictionary. I'll repeat it again:

No, it just means there has to be a definite clue, consistency, and evidence to be able to see the answer in order to be certain that prayer works or not.

Keyword: EVIDENCE. Without EVIDENCE, there's no definite way to tell if a prayer works.
*
You type so long winded, complaining about the people in here not are mature enough to understand your view and YET...

It never occur to you that by you asking Christians to help you to reach out to people to disbelieve in God is offensive (to us), hence our unwillingness to help you in that context.

That is why I've asked you to rethink what you're asking before you go on accusing us of not being hospitable towards this request of yours.

You miss my point, again. The key phrase is "freedom to choose".

Here's a difference. If you were to come into the LYN Official Atheist & Agnostic thread, you may ask any questions without any fear of retribution (unlike religion and from religious zealots), aside from the reasoning, science, rationality, and logic we will apply in the answers and questioning.

Thank you for your time. I don't want to stay here for too long lest another religious zealot decided to report that I'm presumably "attacking" Christianity again.
Been there, done that. Thank you for your time. I don't want to stay here for too long lest another religious zealot decided to report that I'm presumably "attacking" Christianity again.

And you missed the point, ignoring the fact that what you're asking us to help you is offensive to us.

You rather want us to appeal to your opinion and disregard how we feel about it and accuse of us not being hospitable about it. doh.gif

Sorry Bro.

When I was still a Christian, I understand that God gave us free will for a reason, so that we are not just programmed beings forced to choose only the path of good.

This is why I thought Christians will understand the IMPORTANCE of free will. By not allowing free will to flourish, i.e. shutting down and refusing help in response to all avenues that provide the exercise of free will would be going everything that is why god gave us free will as human beings in the first place.
*
The current sad pervasive evil state of this world is the result of your free choice.

You are free to choose your will but you're not free to choose the consequences.

With that being said, No we're not going to help you to encourage others to reject God.

I believe We need God even more than ever.

I will end this here. No more continuation of this.

You are free to ask sincere questions about our Faith but not the sort of argument, megatron dude did.

No more of this, thanks.

He only argue his word is right and never choose to understand what other said, this is all from what he replied earlier so no doubt he misunderstand all words from his Church while he was a Christian.

He THINK choosing his free will don't have to bear the consequences.  doh.gif

This type of attitude, will have a REAL TRUE hard time in life. Never try to stand on other perspective to see YET he THINK he did.

Popcorn enjoyment aside, this is an interesting form of attack.

I have never encountered someone who literally asks for your help to attack yourself... well, not this brazenly anyway.

Doubtless then that he will include it in his future "testimony" that Christians are unhelpful, suitably edited of course.

Whoof.

Seriously? Are you really asking for help? Its more like you want to seek attention for the wrong reasons. Plus, your "unanswered prayers" made you bitter towards God.

There are people out there geniunely seeking for God and that's not wrong at all. But all you want to do is to dismiss the existence of God because of your petty issues in life.

I've been through the same experience like you. Unlike you, I don't become bitter and keep all these hatred bottled up inside. Instead I seek answers and read stuffs about religion.

Hopefully you'll find what you want to seek in life. Whatever rocks your boat dude.
Of course not. I should have rephrase my statement. Germans don't care whether you believe (or don't believe) in anything.

Cool down sis. I think we should not chide him for being bitter with God, he has his reasons, give him that space.

We just need to take stand against discouraging people from knowing God. From that point, we will refuse to compromise and not to be ashamed of the Gospel or God.

So that you may know

1 John 5:13 (NIV) - I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Morning People.

We should learn to say "amen" to the Word of God. Amen means "So be it. The world does not understand what you're talking about. It is the language of Heaven. When you say Amen and believe, The Holy Spirit goes into his divine Work in conformity to your faith that believed.

Do you know that Faith is very attractive to God? If you're in a group of people and you're the only one who has faith believing God, no matter how small it is, God will bypass all those people, including people who are deemed outwardly Holy and come to you and attend only to you. I can testify this to be true.

The world does not understand Faith from Biblical perspective. They say it's Blind Faith, Faith that does not require evidence. If you have spiritual eyes to see this, you'll realize behind that idea is the spirit of the Anti Christ. They don't realize they're being compelled by the "god" of this world in words and deeds to propagate aged old ancient scheme to separate man from true and living God.

As Christians, we do not subscribe to that sort of Faith. The Faith that God wants us to practise are based on certainty, one that is spiritually intelligent. The world calls it blind Faith because they do not hear & neither understand the word of God that's being preached in Church. However We do so as God has graciously allowed us to.

We need to be clear that It is not the matter of our Faith that causes "happenings". Just because atheists do not believe in God doesn't mean God ceased to exist. God exist regardless of our believes.

It is the matter of WHO you Faith looks to. If a chair if faulty, we can have all the faith to believe it's fine but the moment we sit on that faulty chair, we will fall down. However if the chair is good and we believe the chair is good, when we sit down, our Faith confirms it. In this context, our Faith is the substantiate of the object where we put our Faith in. Exchange that chair with God, you get the idea.

God does not want you to be in the conjectures or supposition, maybe or perhaps! God is into definite and certainty! That is why we should not say, "maybe I'll be saved, maybe I won't, who knows."

1 John 5:13 says : I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.
The key point in this verse = So that you may know! CERTAINTY!

As a father to my children, when I tell them that I'll bring them to the zoo this weekend, my children would act and plan preparing themselves, getting ready for that day. Imagine when the day come, my children was not ready to go as I've promised them. I would be so disappointed. If I were to ask why and my children tells me "Oh I didn't know you were being serious, because you lied before, so we don't know. I would be hurt because they doubted my integrity.

As Humans, we may not live up to what we say, we may fail. But What about God? Can God Lie and has no integrity? My Bible says in the book of Titus, God Has No ability to Lie. He cannot. There are a few things God cannot do. He cannot Lie and He cannot cheat us, though He is Almighty! Therein lies our Security where we can rest our Faith and have assured Hope!

Meditate on the essence of certainty in 1 John 5:13.

God Bless!

Random Musings
--------------------

I just want to kill off the errornous implication of

Faith without works is dead in James 2 referring "work" to the 10 commandments, implying we are still under the 10 commandments, we need to have this works before faith can operate.

If that is true, we have contradiction problem.

There are 2 illustrations in that chapter.

1. abraham offer his son as sacrifice - contradict thou shall not murder.
2. Rahab send the spies away - contradict thou shall not lie.

These are not good illustrations to use to sanction the 10 commandments.

Equip yourself with this revelation, it is not referring to 10 commandments.

God Bless.

When you don't know how and what to pray

Romans 8:26-27 - In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Morning or Night people of God,

Do you know The Holy Spirit is a very good "paraklétos" in the Greek which mean "Helper". This implies that God is a helper in every situation in our life, even the small things or insignificant things. That is why Christianity is about relationship with God, it's never a religion. The world define it as religion because they don't know the personality of God and the people who practise Christianity as religion have missed out a lot in knowing God as a Father. They treat Him as You God, Me Man, a far separation.

You must come to a place where even though you know God is Almighty, the one who created the Stars, the Heavens, the High Mountains, the great Judge during judgement day, He is most of all, your Father in Heaven, who is willing to let go His Son, Jesus for your Life. God loves you as much as He love Jesus. You must come to that place!

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd divine person of God. He is the one Whom Jesus deposit into our Life and Spirit, who is also the 3rd divine person guaranteeing our Salvation. He is also the Helper, Teacher and Guide in our Life. If you're a student, He can help you be one of the best students in the class, if you're a homemaker, he can help build a great and warm Home, if you're teacher..even in the lousiest class, he can help you bring up the class standard, if you're a mechanic, he can help you diagnose car problem accurately, etc.

Many times we don't really know what to pray for. In our daily language, be it Bahasa, English, etc we can at most pray for so many minutes. After that what? What words to say or use? This is where praying in the Spirit help and best of all the Holy Spirit knows what to pray for.

In Life we may make mistake and messed up, we may have wandered off from achieving our supposed goals because don't take our life seriously. If that is you, It's never too late to you seek the Holy Spirit's Help. Yes, you heard me, even if you're in your 60's or 70s. The Holy Spirit can bring everything in your life back to alignment! How?

The Bible says in Ephesians 6:18 to pray in the Spirit on all occasions. That is your key.

What is praying in the spirit? Romans 8:26 says the Holy Spirit intercedes for us through "wordless groans". In the Greek, it means through expression that cannot be expressed in human language. Not in your language but the language of Heaven. Praying in Tongues.

Is this God's best with regards to prayer? Yes it is. Why? Because the devil cannot understand what you're praying and best of all, you too! If the devil cannot understand, he won't know what scheme to use against you to stop your prayer. Why is it best, not for me to understand? Because sometimes our carnal mind may get in the way. We may pray out of wrong desire and we may not even know it. Best is to pray in the spirit because the Holy Spirit will help you pray in the perfect will of God. And that always get answered much faster!

Do not be mistaken to think to pray in the Spirit means only the Holy Spirit pray. Actually it is both of you praying side by side. You and the Holy Spirit. Without your desire or will to pray, the Holy Spirit will not! So you need to express your will to pray before God, the Holy Spirit will translate your will into Heaven's Prayer which God will understand. You don't have to know what is being prayed, All you have to know is God will work in your situation!

Ephesians 6:18 say on ALL Occasions. Why? Because God wants the best for you. Think about this, snatch every moment to pray in the spirit, persevere and See God's miracle forthcoming.

God Bless.

Hi sorry.  Out of topic but I don't really know where else to ask.

Does anyone here have any experience in removing Chinese taoist idols from house? I want to know what's the proper Christian way to do it.

The idols are my dad's. He's the only non believer in our family. We are moving to a new house so according to my mom she said a pastor can remove it by burning or breaking it?  Is that true?
But according to my Chinese friends they say if by cultural believes, we have to give it back to a temple?

Need some advice on this. Thanks in advance ya

Erm.. I don't really think so.. but my mom is very keen to do it behind his back. What should I do ?
In actual fact can pastors break it?
*
Yes Pastors can do that but unless your dad consent to it, it's also wise not to cause disharmony in the family.

Most of the time, unbelievers are not willing on both situations, but if your dad is rather willing that the taoist idols returned to the temple, that is also another step of victory and it's okay IMO.

Ultimately you still need to pray and lead your dad to Christ. At this present moment, your Father will not understand why those Idols need to be broken and if this aggravate him long term, it will be challenging to share the gospel to Him.

My advise is, you & your mom seek Father God's direct intervention (in prayer) to change your dad's heart to soften. Also pray for divine protection asking God to put his hedge of protection and guardian angels around you and your household.

Pray for Wisdom above all. Pray for anointing, Ask Father God to Rise Up and go ahead of you to dismantle the powers and schemes of the evil one, ask him to send his angels to set your Dad Free from this bondage.

You need to consistently pray doing this everyday until it's done. Without Prayer, the enemy can cause havoc in the situation.

Edit:

And if you believe in Praying in Tongues, Pray in tongues 24/7, as much as you can. It is sword of the spirit offensive, cutting away the devil's works and schemes in divine dimension where it is beyond our boundary.

Thanks so much. I know what to do now. I'll go have a talk with my mom later. Yes will continue to pray. At least he is willing for it to be returned to the temple. That's a huge step for a devout taoist.
Thanks again unknown warrior. God bless

You say it's a huge step for a devout Taoist but actually it's God already moving his heart.

The Eyes of the Lord Part 1

Psalm 33:18 (NIV) - But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

1 Peter 3:12 (NIV) - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

Good day believers of Christ.

Psalms 32 verse 8 Says in ESV: I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.

The phrase God's eyes are on you, means God is attentive to you. This has been demonstrated many times in the Bible. For example, Psalms 32:8 even though written by King David but it applies in Joseph's Life, the Lord was with Him, everything he did, prospered! Whatever the devil threw at Joseph, God transform that into stepping stones for Joseph success. God's eye was upon his life. God was being attentive to everything that's happening in Joseph's Life, God's eyes was upon him.

Take a look at Job, When Satan wanted to attack Job, he needed God's permission. If God says No, It's No Way for the devil. Even if God says Yes, The Devil too is under the Watchful eyes of God Almighty, He cannot attack beyond what God will not allow. When God's eyes are on you, you can have that blessed assurance, come what may.....there is always divine hope of providence and deliverance!

We all want God eyes to look at us and our prayers. At times we try so hard putting our trust in our obedience implying the idea we need to qualify to merit God's answer but do you know under the New Covenant, there's a change of principal?

We think we need to merit to get God look at us but In fact, God obliged Himself.......... to look at us as indicated on the 2 theme verses of today's devotion as above.

If you read these 2 verse on the surface, our 1st reaction would tend to think, it depends on whether we fear God enough or have been righteous enough. The Devil has hoodwinked and robbed many believers by this "on the surface" interpretation. This notorious enemy has caused many Christians to live defeated under the new covenant but with the old covenant mindset. No Wonder, sometime we lack the Faith to believe greatly in expectation towards God. Many of us thinks that God won't do that for me, knowing our own short comings in obedience. Or It can also go the other way, some of us felt we have obeyed enough and yet God never answers us

Where did we go wrong? The answer lies in having the right revelation in God's word.

I will address this so that you know you don't have to struggle to qualify via these 2 matters, Fear of God and Being Righteous.

What is the fear of God? In many Christian circle, we define it as having a reverent fear of God. Some explain it as fear of God's judgement, fear of punishment with trembling and trepidation. I've even heard of teaching such as how you fear when you see a dark and intimidating storm or tornado before you, that we are to have a respectful fear of it, of it's awesome power. It's up to you to take in all those teaching BUT!

Do you want Jesus's definition of Fear of God? I say who else define's God's word best other than God himself?

In the 40 days temptation of Jesus Christ vs Satan, when Satan asked Jesus to bow down before Him and he will give him the world, Jesus answered in Luke 4:8 “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only". But if you look at the foot note of this verse, Jesus was quoting, Deuteronomy 6:13.

Here it says "Worship the Lord" but in Deuteronomy 6:13, It says "Fear the Lord". Jesus define Fear of God = Worship God. The idea is not to fear God like a intimidating Tornado with trembling and trepidation but to worship God as a Father. How did I get this?

Romans 8:15 defines this.

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."

The word "fear again" above refers to the Old Testament Fear of God as in Mount Sinai when the 10 commandments was given, there was a dark cloud with thunder and lighting. (Exodus 19)

Do you understand now the fear of God? If you understand this and re-look at Psalm 33:18 above, God's eyes are on people who worship God as loving Father, and puts their hope in this love. It's not the idea of you fearing God with reverent fear, with trembling and trepidation. God oblige Himself to look at you when you learn to worship Him as A Loving Father, not a distanced and fearful God, NOT EVEN a close and fearful God. But as a loving Father close and tender to his Child. I pray that this will cause you to re-look at God as "Abba" or Papa or Daddy!

Until you have the revelation of God as "Daddy" in your spirit, there will always be a distance between you and God. The nagging doubt and wrong sort of fear will cripple your relationship with Father God. Break away from all these in Jesus Name.

This conclude Part 1, We will do Part 2, later.

God Bless.

Bible Fused To Steel Found In The Rubble Of 9/11, What The Page Says Is Incredible!

user posted image

http://www.naycrumors.com/articles/bible-f...l-found-on-911/

A firefighter found the fragment in March 2002, under the Tully Road, a temporary truck route that covered the last remnants of the south tower. He called out to the photographer, who happened to be nearby.

“This shredded, burned and rubble-covered Bible came to me from the loving hands of a fireman who knew that I was the record keeper of ground zero,” Mr. Meyerowitz said in an e-mail from Italy, where he now lives.

“My astonishment at seeing the page that the Bible was open to made me realize that the Bible’s message survives throughout time,” he said, “and in every era we interpret its teachings freshly, as the occasion demands.”

“Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.”

So many chapters. So many verses. But these were the words — from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, in the Gospel of Matthew — found permanently exposed at Ground Zero after the Sept. 11 attacks.

The pages of the Bible in which they were printed had fused to a chunk of steel as the World Trade Center collapsed, to be found only months later.

There can be bridging the gap between people, it's possible.

But

There can never be harmony of bridging the Gap of Religion. It's not that I don't want to but It's not possible.

For example, Abrahamic Religion is rooted in monotheistic God.

All other religion subscribe to multiple gods.

Even among Abrahamic Religion : Judaism, Christianity and Islam, conflicts in agreeing with each other.

Are all religion the same?

Some people try to bridge the gap between different religion, there is one centre in puchong road that tries that.

but if you study closely of each religion, they are not the same and really differ in ideology and doctrines. We have to accept this fact as not to delude ourselves.

Whoa, such a long and stressful debate many people had with Hoka Nobasho going on in this thread. I guess in our Relationship with God, our FAITH in Him is the most important, no matter what happens, good or bad. Things happen to you, but have Faith God is with you always. We are having a relationship with HIM, and faith depends on how we cultivate our relationship with HIM, as we do with our friends, parents, grandparents, people around us. This is what makes Christianity different than others, not a just a RELIGION. If we start demanding thing from them, meaning we're taking HIM for granted, treating him nothing more than a Deity, Idol, like vending machine, put in coin (Serving, Read the bible religiously, Tithe) , then get something in return definitely. We forgot we are HIS creation, He is GOD. What position are we in to demand and test our Creator.

I totally disagree with the last statement regarding Evidence of answered prayer. IMO, prayer answered depends on how we see things, what we ask for, and whether GOD allows it. What we want might not be what GOD wants us to have. God has a plan for all of us. If we test Prayer to God with scientific means, hypothesis, then we are trying to comprehend God.

I think Hoka Nobasho is just upset his thread on lowyat was deleted, and trying to understand what is the reason of that happening.

First time here, first post, hope you all welcome me.  biggrin.gif God Bless all. I'm still a humble believer still learning to trust in God more.
