The Grace of God causes you to rest. (in knowing your salvation is settled and secured by God) Therefore you can breath and live easy as a Free person.
The Law of God causes you to feel, it's not enough, that you need to do more, that you have something to measure up. You will feel unsure whether you qualify. These are the 2 different covenants of God with regards to Salvation. One is in the Old Testament and One is the New Testament. There are many Christian who can't differentiate the 2. In essence the believe in this mixture causes Christians to live under the New Testament Covenant but with the Old Covenant Mindset. Jesus calls this trying to put Old Wine into New Wine skin. Jesus also says this will never work. The wineskin will burst and not hold. If you want to be close to God, you must embrace the New Covenant which is Grace! QUOTE(Sophiera @ Jun 23 2016, 03:24 AM) Ok I got a question about Lot's wife. Jesus mentioned about Lot's Wife inWhy did she turn into a pillar of salt and not sand or rock? What does salt represent? Luke 17:32-33 (NIV) - (32) Remember Lot’s wife! (33) Whoever tries to keep their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life will preserve it. When Jesus said "remember lot's wife" It was in reference to her turning into a pillar of salt and Jesus explained it in verse 33 the meaning of it. In all the synoptic 4 Gospels, it was recorded many times that whoever tries to keep his life..will lose it. In the Greek the word that refers to this life is the self life. (αὐτοῦ - Autos) It's talking about the corrupted life that was brought by Sin. One more reference is in Matthew 5:13 (NIV) - “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. Jesus made clear reference to being Salt of the Earth in the next paragraph talking about a city on a hill that cannot be hidden. And Jesus mentioned Good works that will cause others to glorify God. It's talking about the Christian Life, the sort of testimonial life because we are the walking gospel, some people may not want to hear our gospel tracking but they will see and hear by our Life, how we live. In there they are seeing and understanding the Gospel. |

QUOTE(skydrake @ Jun 23 2016, 08:30 PM) I'm doing ok.can I give advise? Cover your child with heavy prayer even at very young age. Ask God to shape her with patience, wisdom, etc. Protect her from influence of this world. Bcos nowadays children very hard to control....not same like last time children. They're easily influence with their friends in kindergarten...will cry, throw tantrum to get their way. That is nothing wrong but sometime can get out of control and extreme..that is something we parents want to avoid. This post has been edited by unknown warrior: Jun 24 2016, 08:43 AM |

QUOTE(skydrake @ Jun 24 2016, 09:21 PM) noted your advice, thanks for the reminder. I had the same idea for my baby girl even before she was born, I had prayed hard with my wife to have baby because we got difficulties to conceive and tried many years after marriage. Another testimony of the reality of God. a Miracle. Bible says children are a heritage and a reward. |

What does carrying the cross means?
In all the synoptic gospels, it was recorded by the apostles, Jesus mentioned Take up your cross or Carry your cross else we would not be counted worthy to follow Him. In the Greek, it is recorded in the fashion of 1. take the cross of him (Matthew 10:38) 2. taking up of the cross of him (Matthew 16:4), 3. carries the cross of himself (Luke 14:27) Notice the way The phrase taking up the cross in reference to "him" or "himself" (refers to you and I), is consistently followed by the reference of denying oneself. This is in reference of the self life or corrupted sin-life which Jesus came to save us from. But what does it all mean anyway? Does it mean we are to bear the burden of the cross, carrying it's weight or fighting against sin as how Jesus did to bear the suffering and punishment all the way to mount Golgotha? The answer is No. That Sanctifying process of heart transformation is done by God and God alone. No one has the power to change himself. Because if He/she could, Jesus need not come. In our last devotion, I've shared that Jesus said, Apart from Me, you can do NOTHING! The Bible is consistently true, ONLY God and God alone has the power to change a believer. So then what does carrying the cross really mean? It means to take to heart and agree with God that the Sin Life or Self Life is wrong and that we need to turn away from it and ALSO THIS! To agree with God, we cannot and DO NOT have the power to change or to turn away by our own effort. The power to change comes from the source of God alone. And how do we access this Godly power of change (which again refers to the Work of the HS)? By your effort? By your Striving? By Gritting your teeth and tense muscle to deny your flesh? No. These method will for sure 100% absolute FAIL in the long run. It comes by the way of resting in God's Truth, To believe that you have been eternally Saved, washed by the Blood of Christ 24/7. WHEN you believed that, The HS goes into action confirming by your faith to the truth of his word. Faith causes you to rest in God, because you believed. Struggling in effort on the other hand happens because you do not see God all the way 100% as the author and the finisher of your Faith. So Dear Friends, learn to rest in God and Christ Finished Work because It has already been done and FINISHED at the cross. Our part is to keep on receiving God's Grace by Faith Amen? God Bless. |

QUOTE(Hoka Nobasho @ Jul 3 2016, 06:53 PM) Considering what I've amassed over the years as a Christian, it would take a lot more to get me back into religion. Never thought of it as religion, for me personally it's part and parcel of life, the ups and downs, the pain, the joy, etc.Only difference I've learn to see God in a different light than most people and that sort of view has change the paradigm of my faith tremendously. God seem to respond more than before compared to when I understood the Christian Faith incorrectly. Simple Faith really makes a lot of difference. I Wasn't born into a Christian Family, so I wasn't really indoctrinated. But I've learn throughout the years of being with God and still in the learning process why God at times act and why He doesn't. I don't claim to know everything but I do know for a Fact God loves You and I. And there is an enemy Satan who will do anything to dissuade you on that and hates you to the core. Rest in the Salvation of Christ
Hebrews 4:11 (NIV) - Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. There are people who question where does the Bible says we can rest. They'll say things like, oh you're preaching something that's against the Bible, there's no need to work out Salvation. In our previous devotion, I've expounded what working out our Salvation means. Without God you have nothing to work out. And to tap into God's power requires Rest! So Where does the Bible says this? Answer is in Hebrews 4:11. The context of this passage talks about the Israelites who wandered for 40 years and they could not entered into the promised land because of unbelieve. See, unbelieve causes us to strive to work because we want solution but believe in God causes us to rest, because our trust is in God and not ourselves. And the word in scripture confirms this in Hebrews 4:3 Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said,...... WE WHO BELIEVE ENTER THAT REST! Do you see that dearly beloved of God? Jesus also said in Matthew 11:28 (NIV) - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. The intelligent question to ask is Rest from What? The rest that Jesus speaks of in Matthew 11:28 is not about the daily work, career works, stress in the corporate world or domestic work etc. It's talking about rest in contrast to worrying. It all has to do with faith vs unbelief. This is the exact context. How do we know? Because before this verse, Jesus praised God the Father because He has hidden the revelation of God, his word and his kingdom from the wise and learned but he revealed it to "little children". This is in reference to simple faith not really children per say. It has to do with revealing who God is. And that my friend required Faith. And for Faith to work, requires Rest in God. ALL in Context. So dear Friends, start learning to REST in God. BELIEVE what He says about your Salvation, When Jesus declared IT IS FINISHED! at the cross, BELIEVE IT! Else you will NEVER enter into God's rest (Hebrews 4:5). You will always be striving working thinking that if you don't, you don't deserve to be recognize by our Lord Jesus. You'll end up being a "Martha" instead of being a "Mary" who sat (in rest) at the feet of our Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 10) God Bless. |
