But why do other religions when they fast, they are fasting thru' out the whole day. Then when its dinner time, they are starving and eating more than they should.  rclxub.gif

answer is in the 1st paragraph of Pehkay's sharing.

Something said about ascetics and vegans, applies to all other religion.

Galatians 5:16-18 (NIV) - So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.

Hi Bro and Sis in christ......Ever wonder why your character at times is not Christ Glorifying?

This verse explains it and also gives the solution.

What is walking by the spirit or walking in the spirit in some translation?

Walking by the Spirit is everyday submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit....it is also a life of Faith and all concentration of God's Kingdom.

I would love to learn more.

God The Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, triune God. (1 Same God in 3 divine persons)

It is something we humans have difficulty comprehending but for Christians we accept it as it is.

Quite confusing. I am not sure if I understand what a trinity is.
What is the holy spirit by the way?
I understood that the son is the Christ, the Father is the God.
*
Trinity basically means there are 3 persons of God and yet is the same one God.

Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that Jesus send to be with and to live in, every Christians.

Holy Spirit function to help us understand his word in the Bible, Help us to communicate with God and convict believers of Righteousness which Jesus has given, convict unbelievers of sin because of unbelief and to remind us of Judgement because Satan has been judged.

I am sorry but this sounds very unbelievable. I want to find a logical Religion.
This requires too much beliefs and it is hard for me to accept without any proves and logic.
*
There is a prove and logic context when God describe man is inherently sinful in nature and we can't change that on our own. This is the beginning step in discovering whether it is the truth.

Yes while it's true, you need to take the 1st step BUT as time goes, that faith in God will materialize more and more in the physical realm we live in.

but Sure...that is your decision, we never force.

Book of Joshua 10:1-15

The Sun Stands Still
1 Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and had become their allies.
2 He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters.
3 So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon.
4 “Come up and help me attack Gibeon,” he said, “because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.”
5 Then the five kings of the Amorites—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon—joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it.
6 The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.”
7 So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men.
8 The LORD said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.”
9 After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise.
10 The LORD threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah.
11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.
12 On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.”
13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself on its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.
14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the LORD listened to a human being. Surely the LORD was fighting for Israel!
15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal.

There are so many Bible evidences.  You just need to open your eyes and see.

Archeologists, non-Christ believers, trying to prove non-existences of stories in Bible, ended up accepting Christ.

Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Jeremiah 29:13 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

Yes God leave many hints..didn't leave us in the dark.

That is how good our God is despite the sin separation.

Proverbs 3:5 NKJV

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

In the beginning, I think its hard for anyone to accept Christianity, especially newbies, so its the Holy Spirit that will eventually lead that person to Christ.

Its always the issues of faith vs reason. Christians "plants" the "seeds" for the new believers but its God that "gives the increase."

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 NKJV

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase.

yup the principal is like that. Today I may not be able to get through the guy but as time goes by..God will use the next person and perhaps the next person after that..slowly catching the heart of the person.

BTW what do you think of Madison Cunningham? Is she beautiful for your standard?

I think most important is be patient. Coz you know newbies asked alot of annoying questions.

Back in the 6th century, monks make beers to supplement their meagre income. Its about being patience and alot of dedication. Well I'm not saying that you should brew beer IF you take up full time ministry.  brows.gif

Heck even God used people like Moses...
*
Yeah...sometime such questions are so basic...it's like kindergarten level to us but it's a mountain for others. Then it also dawn on me, We forget at times how God has been so graceful to reveal things else we too won't understand.

Everytime someone mention this I just shrink.........and shrink.

sigh.

I don't know...one part of me wants to and another just isn't ready.

Just the other day a Pastor invited me to submit my contact for interview to help in ministry...I didn't. dry.gif

Hallo Bro n Sis.

Just want to share this.

Just the other day as I was teaching my children the Bible....see I thought I was teaching them but even the teacher is being reminded of the lessons he's teaching.

You learn better when you teach, the irony.

I was mentioning Jesus says to seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness...one of my kid ask why. Immediately I just said, because If we don't seek God's kingdom first we will end up seeking other things to fill our empty hearts...that is why people go after things like Money, BF/GF, go after Fame, after Positions of power and yet is never at peace and never able to settle down and still seek more and more causing more heart agony and perhaps misery to others.

Immediately I understood only God can stop that empty gap...I mean already knew this but the revelation is just so striking and vivid.

And God never says He will not give us the things we need. God is saying it will be added when we seek his Kingdom first.

We are still adjusting to the way things work in the Kingdom of God. Step by Step Bro and Sis.

God Bless.

Working out your Salvation, what is the context?

Hi you who are dearly loved by God,

Philippians 2:12-13 (NIV) - Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed--not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence--continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.

Since this revelation is still fresh in my mind as deposited into my heart early this morning, I want to share this so that you understand in context of what God is saying. There are Christians who likes to quote "WORK OUT..your salvation", without quoting the next verse. Why? Because they want to give you the idea that Salvation involves your work.

But if you read the next verse (verse 13) it says; "FOR it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."

What this means is that IF God does not work in you, you can work all you want but you have nothing to work out. You will only be working out according to the workings of Man....which is religion. And this is backup by another verse in another book where Jesus says in John 15:5 "APART FROM ME...you can do nothing".

So the intelligent question to ask is..how to get God work in us which is by the Holy Spirit (living in us). The answer is this; To rest and to agree what God says in the Bible. All this goes back to the tenet of Faith. What do I mean?
For example when you believe and agree what God says about you, that Jesus gives you eternal life (not you working but Jesus gives you) and you shall never perish...(John 10:28)..The Holy Spirit goes into action confirming this word in your spirit that will manifest in the practical life by the dunamis power of God's spirit.

See the Holy Spirit will confirm and work according to the word of God. And for that to happen, you have to believe. And to believe is to rest in Faith not struggle in sweat.

Do you see the context now? Don't allow religiosity from others hoodwink you. There are many verse that connects to this..for example, Jesus is the author and the Finisher of our Faith? Not you working "out" or trying to finish Salvation? Anyway it was already done and finish at the cross, Jesus worked the Salvation of God and credit righteousness to you by dispense of your Faith

All goes back to source of Jesus and his word, never yours.

God Bless people.

Our God is a Father with a longing heart & Happy Father's Day to you.

Luke 15:20 (NIV) - So he got up and went to his father. "But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.
