Nintendo does know how to squeeze the udders dry, dont they... LOL

Well, yeah, firstly, it's just a rumour. We still don't know if it's true or not.

Secondly, if it's really true, then it depends on what additional features this rumoured new DS will have to offer. If all it offers are just bigger screens, well, I'm pretty sure it'll be a failed project. Redesigning a new version of the DS purely with cosmetic issues in mind isn't a wise idea anyway.

Though obviously Nintendo wouldn't be that stupid to waste resources on manufacturing and marketing a new version of the DS that just looks sexier in terms of physical design, but has no special additional bonuses. Or would they?

Thirdly, like one user pointed out, if bigger screens also mean bigger DS sizes in general, then it defeats the concept of a DS Lite. Failed project, too.

By the way, I've never upgraded my ordinary DS to a DS Lite.

i don't think nintendo is gonna make the screen bigger.bigger screen=badder graphics.i think nintendo is going to give a new design to the ds to avoid the cracked hinge problem

Well, the DS Lite is nothing more than a small cosmetic upgrade from the DS Phat.

The DS (regardless Lite or Phat) was released in 2004 and looking at the evolution of consoles, 3-4 years seems to be a good time to do a major overhaul.

If the rumours are indeed true, I think we will seeing more than bigger screens. It might be a totally new system from Nintendo.

Sorry to burst your bubbles guys. But any changes to the size or the resolution of the screen is technically unsound.

Increase of screen size will make the graphics look even more pixelated. And any change of the touch screen size will affect the gameplay of games (bigger marker in EBA an Ouenan anyone?).

And changing either of the screen only is out of question. What will happen to some games that uses both screen for gameplay (example: Sonic Rush and Yoshi's Island DS) if that situation happens...

True, They would have to revise the DS' entire design and hardware for a better resolution and graphic capability.

1 of the reasons I nvr bothered upgrading my phat to Lite was that I flashed mine to be able to adjust brightness, and I felt more comfortable with a bigger, outdated looking unit to avoid unwanted attention >D
