for the bubble santa, you need mini studio or lighttent liao.
and probably wrong wb setting, try for daylight wb setting
and increase the aperture to about f/9. if not handheld set iso to 100, if handheld, get a tripod tongue.gif
then make sure the overhead fluorescent light is not reflected on the bubble.

Av mode is best for fixed aperture lens
70-200mm f/2.8 L brows.gif

normal lens with range of aperture is pretty useless
because when u zoom you cannot retain a constant largest aperture

a little tip from me, the setting i usually use for indoor is TV coz i'll set it to 1/60 or 1/100 and let the aperture run itself, at least at this setting ur picture won't be blur coz of movement.ISO will set at 200-400 depends how much light u need. even sometime a picture with noise is better than a blur picture. another way is setting low ISO and play with exposure maybe +1, need to play around with it.

as for AV i will usually use for outdoor, the light that comes in doesn't matter anymore on outdoor coz the shutter speed will always be set high and the picture won't be blur.here can adjust ur aperture to your need, blur background or flat picture. as for ISO usually i will set 100 - 200. this also depends if ur under a tent it will be darker so 400 is still ok.

hope this helps!

thanks everyone(shinchan,g3k,zadan), note down already. yup i notice when used Av mode, the shutter speed keep on changing, so i used a option '*' to fix the shutter then shoot , but sometime have to try few time to get the correct shutter speed , coz sometime too dare sometime to bright. Just bought 50mm f1.8 , will try out to shoot portrait, hehehe

Now I will comment : Seems like you've getting the drift of composition and getting the hand of shooting with available light. Pretty good perspective in some of the images but you will need to work out your handholding during those lower shutter speed moments. Keep your eye on your viewfinder and read all available information i.e shutter speed and aperture settting and adjust them accordingly.

somethings to ask , i try to take portrait at very low light place , why the auto focus fail to focus on face, izzt coz of face too dark and no light ? and what can i do ?

Hi there,

I like some of your Singapore shots. It show creativity in composing... the angle is really refreashing! thumbup.gif

And to your sunset pictures, dun use date la... It spoilt the pictures only nia.

By the way, did your nick actually mean something? Or I am being over sensitive? sweat.gif

lancau,
i'd think, if you increase the length of the exposure, it might look better as it'll show some sort of motion in the pic. now it's just still frames.

thanks for the comment , i got tried some with slow shutter speed , but the whole body and face become blur.

but i think if the 2nd pic follow your idea will be nice coz only hand show the motion. Too bad dint think that way at that time ... sweat.gif

that day so many ppl , cant get better place to snap the pic , some more only used kit lens ...

hey bro, try not 2 look down on kit lense...smile.gif they r really usefull man...if u underestimated it, u wont unleach the power of it...and without understanding ur cam body, u cant use ur lense power...well u need 2 understand how much max ISO u can use, how slow ur hand can handle the shutter, how much deph of focus u need then only u can improve faster..this is all basic.. smile.gif ur sky photo will b nicer if darker, ur drum photo will b nice if shutter 1/60 and try move around more when shot event and try 2 snap more of the same obeject from different angle...if u wanna c how 2 get propper exposure n w/b for indoor event, try refer to reon thread...u wan portrait of pretty girls try find shinchan if u wan macro u can ask me oso but we can only show u photo on our topic, it depends on u how much u can learn...

matt...

Added on February 8, 2007, 1:34 amP/s : ur event shots, which 1 u cant go near, try compose it far. which wan can go near but not thigh enough do a sligh crop.. smile.gif btw correct me if i said smth wrong...

Hallo Ah Lancau ... you're needed for your First Aid 'expertise' in my next shoot, planning after CNY. Make yourself single and available.

No need to beg borrow and steal-lah, the place is waterfall, dense bamboo jungle and slippery rocks. From what I gather, nothing much there but have to prepare to slips and cuts. None I seen there but prepare for leech and insect bites. Rain too, haha!
