What's the proper way to apply TIM

Thermalright instructs to apply a thin layer of TIM to both the CPU and heatsink base
MX-2 instructs to apply a small dot of TIM to the middle of the CPU
Arctic Silver instructs to apply a thin line to the middle of the CPU

So which one to follow?

You don't have to follow according to the instructions... For me.. I spread the TIM throughout the CPU evenly and as thin as possible... So thin that it looks like that part isn't covered with TIM but it is... Don't apply on both CPU and heatsink... CPU is enough... Btw how much is MX-2 you bought? I ask a shop about it they say its RM42...

Some LYN forummers here are selling them as well. U can do a search on MX-2 under the Trade Zone section.
