yes, it's mercury, from what i read it's extreemly hard to apply and doesn't work with aluminium as they will be corroded by gallium inside the liquid.

a few links:

From what I read thru so far from this thread, is it mean the best method to apply the TIM is using the rice method for proc with/without IHS?

yes... that is the best way, rice method is for single core, string method is for dual cores... neway yeah teh liquid metal thing is very good performance, but then under heat it will expand like crazy so u might get lots of leaks all round the socket....

I would like to know, how long can we keep a TIM?When we applied to a system, how long does it take for us to replace it again or we just leave it there? And if we uses the TIM, is there any expiry date on the balance in the syringe?Cause i wanted to get a few different brands, mainly AS5 and the TR Chill Factor but i am worried that it would be a waste if there is something like an expiry date around..

Ok..cool.Thanks for the info.Maybe i could research more about this first.Anyway, is thermal tape available for sale anywhere? Those that are used to stick certain northbridge cooler without any pins or screws...My original Gigabyte mobo nb cooler was sticked using thermal tape.Would thermal tape be better than TIM if used?

I need help about cleaning the heatsink base. We are suppose to use isopropyl alcohol when cleaning the heat sink base and removing the left over thermal paste. I need to know where can i buy isopropyl alcohol in Subang Jaya? Is it just a normal chemical or is it produced by a certain company?

I mean is isopropyl alcohol the same anywhere i buy it or is it produced by different company?
