i'm newbie on stock market. I have a question regarding the dividend on stock.

Let's say company ABC declared dividend 15 sen and the EX-date is 8 Dec 2017 but the announcement date is 20 Oct 2017.

so in order to entitled for dividend payout I must buy the share before the announcement date or the EX date ?

as for the calculation if I have 1000 shares and it will be 1000 x RM0.15 = RM150. Is this calculation correct ?
