Hi, I'm still learning about investing.

Curious about what you guys/girls think about the fact that from what I have read, studies have consistently shown that you can’t outperform the market with stock picking or timing the market, and that your best bet is to diversity, keep taxes low, and keep fees low. Historically, actively managed funds have usually outperformed the market- why not just buy a diversified mutual fund and just let it grow.
