30+% in 2 stocks of the same country and sector. Basically, u r betting big on China large cap tech, in particular, these 2 stocks.

Nothing wrong with that, if it's ur strategy. But I won't call it diversification.

P/S I myself have occasionally have some big bets on some stocks or market.

5% (or 20 stocks) is the level considered optimum to diversify from stock specific risks.

Stock specific risk is like Jack Ma pissing of CCP last year,, Serba picking fight with Auditors n the regulators last year, Meta missing earnings expectations this month.

There are also sector risks, country risks, market risk. To mitigate these you need to diversify even further to other markets and asset classes.

5% for each stock means only maximum 20 stocks. Normally how do you guys assign the 20 slots? how many should be core, high growth, low growth, defensive, dividend play, hedge, heavy asset, small cap, mid cap, high cap?

Can't find a right thread to post this, but this one comes close.

The Big Read: Malaysia

The sultan, his family and a $15bn dispute over oil in Malaysia
The heirs to the last ruler of Sulu have seized state-owned energy assets in a lawsuit that dates back to colonial Britain

by Oliver Telling in Singapore and Leo Lewis in Tokyo (YESTERDAY)

The claimants’ lawyers warn that more state assets will be pursued unless a resolution is reached.

“International law doesn’t let you pick and choose,” says Cohen. “Either Malaysia honours its international obligations, or it goes ‘full Russia’.”

“The seizure process is a rolling programme that is designed to meet our clients’ financial demands,” he adds. “But we hope Malaysia will see the cost of being a legal pariah state and come to terms.”

What will happen if Malaysia go against the international law which award the assets to the claimants? Will Malaysia become 'full Russia'? Get sanction by western countries? Then our foreign stock/cash will be frozen? Scary.... Time to divest foreign investment?
