there is a rule/practice, i think... if fri is a holiday, they will need to carry u thru fri+weekend.

Price will certainly go up. But, those who have bought lower (i.e: sharks and IBs) will surely take profit and sell. Imagine you buy at 15+ and it rises to 20+ or more, don't you want to secure the profits immediately?
