That  is what we should follow the trend. This is a rare case, covid-19.  Everything reshuffle. I also eagerly to purchase those "good counter" but there will be very high EQ and perseverance at this stage. Follow the trend and to disregard the "volatility" from the paid Ads and articles. "Good counters" are trying to win back investors heart but at this stage it is very difficult. Just look at the phone company that without Google. Paid marketing, ads are elsewhere to see. Same to the current stock market. Without PPE , u berani keluar Sekarang or frontliners berani ? It is become a necessity now.

Agree. Follow the trend.

No point buy dividend counter now. The 5% dividend you are hoping to get will only be paid 1 year later. AND you might be able to bottomfish at a lower price few months later.

Meanwhile glove stock can give you 10% in mere 10 minutes...

If you read the Q2 report, the reason why profit lower than expected is because 1/2 went to buying of land for expansion purposes. If not because of that, Harta profits is almost 500m.

Looks like many ppl got suckered that Harta profit didn't reach its potential, when actually it was. That's why CIMB raised the TP.
*
Why would buy land affect profit.

1 is a balance sheet item, 1 is a P&L. Nothing to do with each other.

Hi guys, just wanna ask your opinions on Property stocks.

It's not glove/covid play, which i guess is the hot topic right now, but if your looking at a 6-12 months investment horizon, it's probably a good buy, with 20++% returns?

Most property stocks is still at a depressed price, although some like Mahsing have recently recovered back to their late '19 / early 2020 price.

Fundamentally, assuming 18 year cycle for property, we're about time to exit the recession phase and could have already just started the recovery phase to a new property cycle.

What do you think on Property stocks? Worth to buy?
*
I will totally avoid property, construction etc. I cannot see any catalyst at all for 20% gain.

If your horizon is 6-12 months time frame the best is still gonna be covid, glove and healthcare play.

If stretch longer maybe you can consider property banks etc but you might be able to get in at lower price if you wait.

Okay, i guess, the lelong side is true la, personally, I'm also looking at the lelong market now to get a unit.

The 20% gain can be achieved from a rebound of current price to may/june 2020 prices, even if we exclude the possibility of recovering back to late 2019 prices (which could be ~50% gain)

The HOC, lowering of foreign purchasing limit to 600k++ and low interest rate will not be effective in raising demand?
I'm thinking it's really beaten up, any bounce can net u the 20% gain, and assuming the bottom has been achieved at the covid 19 panic/force sell in march period, downside is rather limited, no?
*
1) We might not be at the bottom yet... There's always a chance of double dip. Remember, the moratorium hasn't even end yet.

2) Even if we are at the bottom, we don't know how long we will stay at the bottom. Might be 2 years, 3 years, 5 years or even longer. I won't want to wait 5 years to get a 20% gain.

3) Again... I see no catalyst. You said a rebound to May/June 2020 price can give you 20%, but why would it rebound back to May/June level? If you see something that we don't, maybe you can share with us.

Sometimes you see see a while the plane fly away before you can board.

Earlier I said will buy carepls 3.88, but I shot my first bullet at 4.48 already. If drop to 3.88 shoot 2nd bullet. Long term bull trend not afraid!

There are multiple ways to find the intrinsic value of a stock. Depending on the approach you use, each approach will give different intrinsic value and the values sometimes vary VERY DIFFERENTLY. The safest way to get check whether the stock is undervalued is to use all approaches and get a range for the values. If the current stock price is below the range, then it is an undervalued stock.

I personally dont use all approaches then get a range, because some of the approaches are irrelevant to the particular stock. The safe way for you is to come up with your own comfortable approach to value a stock and check against the valuation given online, dont just follow anything given blindly. Hope it helps biggrin.gif

You are making it way too complicated. Easiest way to make money is to forget about your finance degree and CFA BORING stuff and learn more about the human psychology and mechanics of the capital market.

Cfa will teach you a 50% drop from peak price entry will need your next trade to win 400% or even more to just recover back into starting position.
*
What are you talking about. Drop of 50% means you need to gain 100% to get back from where you started. Dont need a cfa to teach you that...

I lost 97% of my investment value in Sapura. That was my first tuition fee in the share market.

Thank god I dont have lots of money in 2015 and dont even know what averaging down even mean.

Yes, everyone of us thought the same way too until you actually lost your first huge money (10k and above baru ada rasa). Everyone was a Warren Buffett until they got burnt big time. In a stock market, loss is almost guaranteed. The important factor is when and how to mitigate the risk involved and minimise the losses.
*
Even Warren Buffett lost billions during the pandemic. Lets put that on record and not be under the illusion that he is all mighty.

Im a CFA charter holder and I dont give any hoots about value investing. Valuation of share is actually much simpler than most finance ANALyst would like you to believe. The value is simply equal to the price the next person would buy. 😁

There’s T-O theoretical opening price buy it may not necessary reflect the actual opening price. If a stock is selling hot from the previous trading day usually they get a gap up of 10% or so from the previous Closing price (unless trading halted due to consecutive limit up reasons)

My advise is don’t buy the moment it openS, let the market settle down first, because opening prices usually fluctuates like crazy in the first 5 minutes.

I profited more from the first 15 minutes of any trading session vs any other timeframe.

Use some common sense... If China wants to retaliate, they will strike where it hurts.

Apple and Trump doesnt see things eye to eye. China wont sting Apple because Trump doesnt give a fuk about Apple.

To be fair, you shouldn't judge them just because you didn't start buying when you were a student. I started when I was a student as well.
