Question on the Supermax share dividend:
(assuming no external factors) With cash dividend (e.g. TG at RM9.40 with RM0.085 dividend per share) upon Ex-Date, stock price for TG will drop to RM9.40 - RM0.085 = RM9.315 For share dividend (e.g. SPMAX at 1 share for every 45 share): upon Ex-Date, will the stock price for SPMAX drop accordingly to take into account the share dividend price? QUOTE(AVFAN @ Oct 29 2020, 07:15 PM) no, it does not cause the opening price on ex-date to be lower like cash dividend. Thanks for clarifying. That would mean share dividend is better than cash dividend as there's no dilution and no change in pricing from our held stocks. becos it is treasury shares being given out, not cash. but if the shareholders decide to sell, the effect will be same like any day. for this coming exercise, about 60.4 mill shares from treasury will be released as dividend, from >151 million. there is really no dilution as total 2.72 bil shares remain the same. https://www.bursamalaysia.com/market_inform...?ann_id=3091997 |
