A no0b question about PN17 companies. Assuming getting slapped with this is not a death sentence, just how do they get out from there?

They need to have an approved restructuring plan to be implemented to regularise their financial situation.

Ever wonder if there's any companies that were able to pull through, and gotten out of the PN17 status and be well. I am new at this, but from recent memories, like none. Scomi comes to mind. But wait, not sure if AirAsia is still a PN17, if not then i think going out of the status is possible!

Got 1 question. This SCOMI GROUP BHD ( 7158 ) counter right, is it still 'alive'? i.e. there a chance for it to be un-suspended, or like gone case wait for de-listing? Ya ya newbie go buy and now stuck at 0.005 sweat.gif

The company has applied for another extension of time. Waiting for bursa decision. Got a little bit of hope that bursa says yes.

This is good, and by God, I hope I never made another mistake of buying into PN17 companies sweat.gif

Thoughts on REITS, anyone ? I have a hunch it should be on an uptrend. And considering they are giving out regular dividends, it should be a feasible thing to buy into this sector ?

Going down. Don’t think it will boom in next 2-3 years as market not good with sign recession seem coming. ( my observation)

I've been propping up my REIT section of the portfolio with KLCC.
In terms of uptrend, boat is already in motion for the past 5 months here.

QUOTE(Bonjitettei @ Mar 4 2024, 10:10 AM)
for REITS, pls do not touch the REITS with US exposure (e.g.; Manulife, etc..)

SG or HK REITS still ok, but the boat has left the port.

HK can consider LINK REIT

SG can consider the 5 tiger generals (CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust (CICT), Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust (MPACT), Keppel REIT (KREIT), Frasers Centrepoint Trust (FCT) and Suntec REIT)

Thanks all for the replies. I am eyeing Pavi-Reits, as I think the potential is there. But we'll see if there's still room to go in, or it is too far gone.

CTOS kena sued and lost... LOL...

Judge even said credit ratings is beyond CTOS scope... LOL

CTOS can remain in business, so long as they report the publicly-available information of individuals, but not to the extend they are giving credit ratings of the individuals, yes?

I think it make them vulnerable to lawsuits. Maybe they will need to access whether they should have a scoring system in the first place.

They are now appealing the ruling to the Appeals Court. I hope the Appeals Court uphold the ruling, lol.

Remind me again, how is dividend calculated? Let say I own 100 units of a share, and the div is 0.05sen.

I am curious, how very determined are you in holding stocks in a particular counter? Made a mistake of buying into a stock, priced at 0.04 It's been months and it never moved up a tick! It hovers around at 0.04 or moved down to 0.035

I don't need the money, but I do feel it is wasteful to hold on to it, but at the same time I will lose money if I sell it at the buying price. At least, I'll be losing on the buy/sell fees.

If it is a bad investment, my principle is to cut.
If you are waiting for a bad investment to become good, this short term feels good because you never recognize the loss but long term unlikely to yield profits.

Unless you want to make it through your investment life never losing money on any investment.
It is also about opportunity cost. If you wait another year hoping it'll go up, might as well go for at least bonds and get a year's interest.
But of course, KLSE rules apply when you sell.
When you sell, stock always goes up up up.
*
I should've heed your advice. Now my investment has gone from bad to worse, as the company is now listed in PN17 sweat.gif Let me just continue parking it there, and see if the company can get itself out of it. Else I'll take it as my learning cost lor

If only broker got stop loss feature, looking at you Rakuten

Not sure if Rakuten has it, but in my case, the mistake's all mine. I shouldn't cut my losses, and licked my wounds. But nope! I opt to do nothing, and I am now staring at bigger losses. aihhhhh

When a counter proposes 'Reduction of Issued Share Capital", is it generally viewed as a good or bad thing for retail investors?
