The FBM KLCI is expected to edge higher today and gear towards the 1,637 point level, in line with the overnight gains at Wall Street and European markets.

The euro declined on Thursday on the European Central Bank's cautious economic outlook, while oil prices recovered on a drop in U.S. crude inventories, erasing losses on OPEC's failure to reach a deal to set an output ceiling, according to Reuters.

The crude market rebound lifted Wall Street and European stocks out of the red, removing the earlier sting from a 2 percent slump in Japanese shares. The Standard & Poor's 500 index closed at its highest level in seven months, it said.

now I know why Mlabs kena UMA recently

MLABS Systems Bhd has entered into heads of agreement with Bage Holdings Ltd to acquire the entire equity interest of BAGE (China) Co Ltd (BAGE HK) for RM260 million.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia Friday, the investment holding company said the proposed acquisition would be settled via the issuance and allotment of 4.0 million new ordinary shares of RM0.05 each in MLABS at an issue price of RM0.06 each.

BAGE HK is a Hong Kong-based conglomerate involves in manufacturing footwear, apparels and accessories under its own proprietary brand name of 'BAGE'.

The FBM KLCI gained 9.28 points or 0.6%, tracking Asian equity gains, as concerns on the UK's possible European Union (EU) exit eased. KLCI closed at 1,624.18 points.

1.12 billion shares valued at RM1.42 billion were traded. There 357 gainers and 331 decliners.

JF Apex Securities Bhd senior analyst Lee Cherng Wee said the local stock market's rise was in line with the overnight rebound in US markets, as worries of Brexit ebbed.

"Although suspension of campaigning for the referendum has a positive effect on markets, this is temporary as the uncertainty will be back in the near term.

"The outlook for the KLCI in the near term is still uncertain. It will continue to be affected by external factors like the direction of US interest rate, as there is a lack of domestic catalysts," Lee said.
