Goes to show there is no one size fits all.

What would you do or at least advice based on the scenario above?

Yea, always a tough choice to make. You know it's a good company with good fundamental so it'll recover in time. But you can't help but to think what if I cut loss now and enter at a lower price and hold.

Example your current price is 2. Stock crash causes it to drop to 1. Then after 1 or 2 year it climbs back to 2. So if you cut at 1.5-1.8 and get into it like 1-.1.2 then you get more profit.

But then it somehow contradicts to long term FA investor strategy? hmm.gif
*
One best example for me in FA camp lesson was this stock. 5292

EP-1.47 in 2019, a week later sold at 1.23. A Loss? Yes.

If I had Not sold, Or maybe bought more in 2 week march 2020 crash,

Today Price @ Jan 10, 2021 = 9.20! bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif Highest, 10.288.

still A bangwall.gif bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

It just has to be consistent with your overall strategy.

Every company I buy will be set a cutloss point.
So in your example, I'd be cutting somewhere along the 1.5 and 1.7 range.
And I doubt I'd be able to buy at the bottom, so any re-entry will probably be around 1.2 or 1.3.

But this is all nice in theory. Stocks tend to go up up up once I cutloss. biggrin.gif

the usual falling knife scenario... at that time most people are thinking of selling lor, not buying! biggrin.gif

yep, can't be sure the reversal will last, yet.
yep, with 2.34% or 191mil shares shorted, there may another 135mil coming next week, esp when retailers try to get out.

with rm1 bil already "wet", likely more will come before closure.

let's watch this closely next week!

Since the sentiment has shifted towards bullish on the glove sectors, they will need to think twice in using the remaining shorting quota. Bear in mind they still haven't covered their previous short position, based on the article written by Ben Tan (link below). If they short the second time and still can't fight sheer buying volume, then hoseh liao haha.. rclxm9.gif

https://klse.i3investor.com/blogs/bursainve...ime_to_Time.jsp

As of last Friday 9/1/21, there's a net foreign fund buyers, with net sellers from local fund and local retailer.

Another question. For those long term FA investor, what do you do when market crash? Cash out or hold then come back few years later?
*
I can't answer for you, but I'll share what I'll likely do instead.

In short, I won't sell off as long as I think the company is not going to bankrupt. (with exception)

Reason: From FA pov, jumping in and out of a business just isn't a wise move. The effort in trying to time when to jump out and when back in is too much, you're only benefiting your broker by doing so.

Moreover, if you do not plan to use the investment fund anytime soon, why stay out of the market?

Once out of the market, what are you going to do with the money? spend extra effort trying to look for "better" companies? how sure are you the company will do better? All these efforts are too much for an ikan bilis who has a day job like me.

There's an exception. That is if I think the company might face bankruptcy. That's why it's extremely important to check through a company's cash flow before investing in it, sometimes a company goes bankrupt not because they can't make a profit, but because they can't roll their money in dire time.

Think Air Asia (sorry AA share holders please don't bash me) in the face of pandemic. As far as I know, they are in 1.08 bil net debt as of 3Q20. Instead of heading towards recovery, we're witnessing a worse covid19 situation. I don't know how many more quarters they can last. in b4 I'm aware of bigpay, airasiafood etc. keeping the group's survival. But I won't bet on it, especially in a heavy capex industry. Richard Branson's Virgin Airline filed for bankruptcy in August 5th last year.

again, you are looking at capital gain, which is not what an investor will do.

as a trader looking for capital gain, be discipline and follow your plan (TP, cut loss).

and if you want to be able to take advantage of market crash, better be very good at macroeconomic.

before you buy a stock, pls figure out what you want to do with it.

LOL. So complicated meh?

Wasn't aware of the stock, mainly cos I'm such a prejudice dick on newly stocks. Which means, I don't check them out at least one or two years after they are listed. wink.gif

My weakness. Lol.

Anyway, this stock came into my attention after a chat with ChAOoz. Then I saw the chart.. and also their QR notes.
