3)if today's panic dumping of other counters is due to mco rumours, does that mean glove's surge is due to goreng upon rumours also? Meaning if no mco on monday, gloves will fall a lot? Others will rise back?

1)Why SBL to short when you can short yourself?
You get to buy lower if you intend to hold as investment/trade.
E.g. XXX is now RM7, you know if you let him short you can buy your stocks at RM6. So you just let him short

2)how does SBL push the stock price up?
When short sellers get greedy and do not close their shorts at profit, you as the biggest player buy them all and raise the price higher than the shorters' short entry. They would now have to close the shorts at higher price, which then you can sell back to the shorters at higher price.
E.g. Now that he has successfully shorted to RM6, you bought all his shorts in the shadow, and bought even more to raise back the price back to RM7. The no-guts shorters now might panic close his shorts by buying about above RM7.

In this way, you would be able to earn not only the fees from the lending, but also the capital gain by buying all his shorts and sell it back higher to him.
Now that these shorters have experienced this, most likely they wont short anything that EPF has huge stake in it

Yes and no. Maybe it is really just closing the shorts, because recovery stocks did not drop a lot today (just 1-2%), and KLFI is miraculously still +ve for the last 2 trading days, with hammer pattern

But if it is really due to MCO, just sell on Monday before the announcement if you are scared
I personally think we will have MCO la - someone power is in risk if no MCO + insufficient bed

1) U probably don't understand shortselling. Shortsell is selling a stock one doesn't own. Bursa is T+2 market. But since one doesn't own the stocks, how to settle at T+2? Get buying in? That is super expensive. To avoid buy in, short seller execute SBL to borrow. Use the borrowed SBL shares to settle at T+2.

P/S one can shortsell without SBL. But need to buy back on T Day. This is called IDSS.

2)Nope. Sbl does not push price up..what can push price up is short covering. Meaning short seller buy back the stocks to take profit or cut loss. The short seller then return the borrowed stock earlier via SBL.

Do you know the chart basics? Where you have the stock price movement and then you have the volume.

If you do ... and if you go take this route...take a look at the chart of TG. (this is the live chart around 3pm)

in all honesty ... this is terribly abused .... cos there's absolutely no point in this in charting or a trader.

You really... do not have to complicate your trade with all these short sell nonsense.

For me, it was really a pathetic excuse to explain why stocks like TG was falling to such lows earlier..

if you are a trader... you do not need to complicate yourself with all this mumbo jumbo.

My first Buy-Sell was today, sold at 11% profit.

We can't simply judging whether it's bull or bear based on single day trading result. We need time to justify our assumptions.
We might not able to 100% predict what's gonna happen next but we can prepare for it.
