When the share market is trading sideways, it is sometimes like putting a frog into a pot of water. You don’t put the frog straight away into a pot of hot water because it will jump out.

You put the frog in cool water first and then warm up the water slowly. By the time the frog realized that the water is hot, it is too late. The frog has already been boiled to death.

Frog = retail investor

No. It is just my own observation of human behaviour and the share market.

Now the analysts say the rally is because of the China stimulus.

At the end of the day, nobody really knows anything. A random walk down KLSE street. smile.gif

Comrades, I have been going in to buy some stocks selectively since yesterday.

Time to realign my portfolio as well.

Where angels fear to tread...I just hope this will not be the case.

What stocks have you been buying lately and what stocks are you looking to buy? I went in too early in some banks and now sitting on losses.
*
The stocks in my portfolio is as per my siggy. Currently, I am now looking for some mid or small cap stocks to add some steroid to my portfolio. To be updated.

Thanks. I wanted to be in HEIM and maybe Inari before they moved but was busy with other stuff. Missed the boat on those already.  Let us know when you buy some more stocks
*
I sold HEIM today. IMHO, there is not much potential upside left. Moreover, the production of beer will be severely affected with the closing of the brewery factory.

I have added a few new stocks today, Lii Hen, CCK, Chinwell and Success. I was queuing for MFlour but did not manage to buy it. Testing the water carefully. These are all small or mid-cap stocks. As usual, this is not a recommendation from me to buy or sell. Please do your own research. Otherwise, I may lead you to Holland. smile.gif

In a good year, I earned about RM100K and in a bad year, I lost about RM170K (excluding sales fees and dividend payments).

But life goes on. Health and family comes first. biggrin.gif

How u take it if u keep losing 170k lol
*
Obviously I cannot afford to lose RM170K every year. 😃

That’s what happen when we keep on averaging down and refuse to cut losses.

If I lose another RM170K this year, then its time to close shop and stick to unit trusts.

QUOTE(MasterConfucion @ Apr 17 2020, 07:25 PM)
Wow. If I can have the money u lost in my fd already happy
*
Well, life is made of a lot of ‘ifs’ and ‘but’. No point crying over spilt milk. More important is how long it is going to take me to generate another income of RM170K.

Confident when make long term investment lo.

In bad year i made loss more than your figure. But once the good year come can reap delicious profit.

Sometimes investor need able to differentiates which one to trade and which one to long term hold.
*
Long time no see Comrade. Salute!

Yes, I hope this year would be a profitable year for us since the market is down. It is difficult to make a profit when the market is trading sideways.

You are right. Sometimes a hybrid approach is best, becoming a part trader and part investor depending on which stocks we buy.

QUOTE(MasterConfucion @ Apr 17 2020, 07:46 PM)
😦 ppl here all way above my league lol. Haha I don’t belong to this place for big players.
*
Don’t say that bro. We all started from the bottom of the ladder and worked our way up. We saved our money over the years. With the passage of time and hard work, one day you will be the king of the mountain!

QUOTE(kkk8787 @ Apr 17 2020, 07:54 PM)
I pull out on 23rd march n lost a myvi worth as well. Little did I know that was the lowest point
*
It’s OK bro. We aim to do better this year.

QUOTE(ywliang96 @ Apr 17 2020, 07:54 PM)
The 170k is unrealised or realised? Still hold on?
Ever since covid19 came, I lost about 25k. Thx to Cimb maybank and GENM hahahahaha. Still holding strong and double down every month
*
The RM170K is a realised loss. I built a new portfolio this year. Hope for the best and prepared for the worst.

QUOTE(abcn1n @ Apr 17 2020, 08:13 PM)
Thanks. Do you just play Malaysia market or other markets? I guess the $100k profit, $180k loss is only for Malaysia stocks excluding unit trusts/funds/etfs?  I guess your capital is at least RM500k to RM1m to get that kind of profit/loss. This year I believe you are going to win big.
*
I only play the Malaysian market. Yes, you are right. My original portfolio was about RM450K to RM500K.

I do have other investments in unit trust, etc.

Thank you. I wish everyone here including yourself win big money this year.

Your 170k loss, what those stocks are? Not confident on the stocks anymore?
*
Those stocks in my portfolio were Ann Joo, Choo Bee, GKent, LC Titan, PetronM and Fajar. There could be one or two more stocks that I can’t re-call offhand.

I bought, topped up and held on to these stocks between late 2017 or early 2018 until 2020. The fundamental and valuation looks great when I bought them. But things started to deteriorate especially after the results of the General Election in 2018.

Except for LC Titan which spiked these two days, the rest of the stocks have dropped even further since I sold them in February 2020.

It was an expensive lesson that I learnt. A combination of lack of diversification, lack of skills, over confidence and no exit plan. Looking back, it was crazy to to be chasing/topping up a stock until I was holding more than RM70K in just one individual stock.

Hi ,
Lately I see you are very bullish on Consumer/Retail sectors.
What is your basis for the optimism?
Lesson learned and hope you  recoup your losses this year. rclxm9.gif
*
I did not concentrate on consumer or retail stocks intentionally. It is just sheer coincidence. Nowadays, I try to diversify my stocks across different sectors and industries.

Thank you. I will try my best to make some money this year.

How on earth a user who withhold the name Vanguard loses 170K?!!  shakehead.gif
*
Lol. Well, sh*t happens.

Vanguard also has an English meaning of ‘that part of the advance army that leads the attack on the enemy’. They usually get slaughtered first. Thus, I am using the correct username.

So sorry to hear about that  sad.gif

I'm currently holding 50k each for Maybank and GENM.
Hopefully i wont get the same fate as u in the future..  unsure.gif
*
Hi bro, thank you for your concern.

I am also holding about RM43K in Maybank. Maybank will survive but there is not much meat already. I am just keeping it for the dividends. Consider it your slow grower stock. The only risk is whether its NPL will grow once the 6 months moratorium for the housing loans is lifted.

For GenM, depending on your entry price, I think you may need to hold it for 1-2 years. I think the next QR would be bad - casino closed, theme park closed, etc because of Covid-19.

QUOTE(kkk8787 @ Apr 18 2020, 05:17 PM)
overall in share market, nett loss of profit for u.
*
Still overall loss. I don’t have the file for my dividend payments with me now. I think my net loss should be around RM60K to RM70K.

LOL. Live a life of no regret, my friend. Money is important but there are other more important things in life like our health. We can always earn back the money later.

I am sure a lot of forumers here lost money before in the stock market especially during the recent melt down. With margin calls involved as well. But they just don’t post it publicly because of embarrassment.

People will only post about their wins but not their losses. This is normal human behavior.

For me, I prefer to take responsibility, learn from the mistake and move on with life.

Good morning folks.

Glove stocks are still rising in the morning although the PE ratios are sky high. Anyone feeling brave enough to buy?

I entered Comfort yesterday.

an update to your status is in order lol....anyway I have exited a few positions, doesnt look good

I agree. It’s like hit and run now.

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Apr 24 2020, 12:36 PM)
High risk. Business still more or less the same, with higher demand but also come with issues like raw material supply shortage, production constraints etc.

if anything this is a good chance to sell the counter if you have buy in before the rise. The P/E rise definitely won't reflect the same when QR is out.
*
I agree. Trading buy only for COMFORT.

My SUCCESS share has better luck. Now up +11% plus but I entered at a high price. Small profit only now. Fingers crossed.
