if your name is in the ROD on the entitlement date, then you will get your cash dividend on the payment date

Top Glove has announced it will pay RM136m over the next 10 months to compensate its migrant workers, as part of its efforts to resolve the US Customs and Border Protection's (CBP) import ban over forced labour claims. Comment: Recall that on July 15th, Top Glove was summoned with a detention order by the US CBP, in relation to the retrospective recruitment fees borne by its foreign workers. To resolve the matter, Top Glove has committed to reimburse its migrant workers with the recruitment fees, which amounts to a revised sum of RM136m. While the revised sum is significantly higher than its earlier estimate of RM20-50m, we still view this move positively as we believe this provides a closure to the forced labour issue, despite no indication given by US CBP as to when the ban will be uplifted. The reimbursed amount is also unlikely to cause a meaningful dent to the Group’s financials, considering the bumper profits that it is expected to deliver given the aggressive ASP hike. We highlight that the full amount of RM136m only accounts for a mere c.1% of its FY21F’s earnings. Maintain Outperform on Top Glove.
