Hoho, with the latest Bank Negara announcement regarding the 6 months’ moratorium for certain loans, how will the banking shares react tomorrow?

From the Star Online:

“KUALA LUMPUR: Banking customers, including individuals and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) will be allowed to delay the repayment of their existing loans, including mortgages and hire-purchases, for a period of six months”.

For investors who have been eyeing Maybank and Public Bank shares, is it time to load the ammo?

Too late for me. I am already knee deep in Maybank and Public Bank shares. I will just have to hunker down in my bunker and prepare for the shelling tomorrow.

Mr Market is irrational.

The window of opportunity to buy selected shares is still there. Just remember to protect your downside and backside.

We can start with the 30 component stocks forming the KLCI.

Please look at the fundamental and valuation of the company. What type of sector or industry is the company in? How is the cash flow position? What is its cash reserve?

Yes, KLCI has shot up since last Friday but it is still hovering at 1300 points plus. There are still undervalued gems to be picked up. For eg. people are looking at banking stocks and gaming stocks like GenM, Genting, Maybank and Public Bank. I am not recommending you to buy the stocks outright. You need to do your own proper research.

If KLCI continues to trend higher, then the investors who are now sitting on the fence will jump in because it is now "safe" to buy. The traders or short term investors who invested these few weeks during the blood bath may quietly exit the market after making their profits. The cycle will then be repeated. Such is the nature of behavioural finance.

Please be careful if you want to do DCA for a stock which you bought and the price has gone down. A stock is not a unit trust which comprises of a basket of stocks.

If the underlying company is not fundamentally strong or if you have no holding power, the stock price will continue to fall while you do DCA for months. Your losses will grow.

Hence the phrase ‘catching a falling knife’.

Semua pakai tikam, whether KCLI will be going up or going down these next few weeks.

Why don't we look at the historical data to make an intelligent guess?

No boss here, kuli sahaja.

Nearly fully invested now in the stock market now. About 20% cash left. I went in too early in February.

It’s OK. The shares I am currently holding is as per my signature. Currently my portfolio is about -8% plus. I can still manage the risk.

I am waiting for the Maybank dividend payment.

I am cautious about BAT and Genting. The other stocks in my portfolio can hopefully weather the storm.

Thanks for the advice! I will take it into consideration. I offloaded Tenaga about 2 weeks ago after the dividend payment. The potential upside is not high.

My Takaful is on steroid these 2 days. Yesterday up 6.67%. Now up +9.375%.

I have always been a conservative investor. No margin account and no borrowed money for investment.

I have different eggs in different baskets. Old man already. Cannot afford to take so much risk.

Alamak. I like the name Vanguard because of John Bogle's famous low cost index fund of course. Which unfortunately we dont have in Malaysia.

When I joined Low Yat forum in 2015, a number of the sifus were still around like Gark and Pink Spider. They have all disappeared now.

But I can see a number of other sifus emerging.

Got-lah. I have Stashaway. Isn't that robo-etf?

I have no time and no skill to manage so many different markets. Thus, I have to rely on FSM and StashAway for my foreign stocks portfolio.

Now because of MCO, I have time to main tikam tikam in the Malaysian stock market.
