hi all, if there's an announcement to issue bonus share: 2 units for every 100 owned.
How would it be when I'm having odd lots? for example, i owning 1080 units, by calculation it is 21.6 units, would they deposit 21 units or 22 units?

Not sure but 1 unit of a stock is so negligible that you shouldn't even be asking unless it's a stock like NESTLE.

Hi, the standard rounding convention when it comes to unit is always round down. However, there may be exceptions (rarely) where this can be rounded up.

It literally means what the notice says

If you have 4000 shares, you will get 1000 warrant credited to your CDS account

If it causes a recession then all economies will be affected. The question is to what extent.

Now most companies reporting bad earnings. Be careful not to buy into a potential PN17 company.

I have. Affin Hwang Gold ETF (0828EA). 1 lot (100 units) is equal to approx 1 gm gold with some cash.

There is no real winner in trade war if escalated into full blown.

Just KLSE may be "spared" a bit, as it is not direct hit.
Still it affects overall market sentiment.

The one "benefit" the most from recession (if) is high graded bond.

Many bond funds are performing quite well with treasuries yield plunging.

Thanks, just dont like to see my portfolio having some odd lots remain unsold and stays there forever so trying to make up to round figure.
Speaking of which, i assume the transaction rate in odd lot board is extremely low though...

If I'm not mistaken, you pay around RM5 more for an odd lot transaction but usually the brokerage firm will advice you to transact together with non-odd lots, i.e. sell 1833 shares instead of just 33 shares.

The brokerage firm will accumulate odd lots from other people to make it a whole 100 shares then they sell.

Are u referring to a 2008 style Global Financial crisis?

If yes, then Gold did pretty well then. Gold was around RM70/gm in 2007, it jumped to about RM100 in early 2008. A nice 40% return in a year. And do u know tht you can actually buy gold using Bursa trading account. I. e. Goldetf (0828EA).

Of course, the problem will be timing. When will this financial crisis happen? Gold does not generate any dividends. And Gold price tend to fall when RM strengthen. You could be losing money while holding Gold waiting for a financial crisis.. What if the financial crisis happen only 5 years from now.? Can tahan?

If ur timing is right, you can make tons of money via derivatives or shortselling rather than gold. See movie Big Short.

P/S Im an investor in Goldetf at the moment. YTD return 8%.
