QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Jun 28 2021, 11:43 AM) No stimulus = reduce in domestic consumption Well it is a vicious cycle, later income tax collections will also go down. Thats why i only focus on export oriented counters as well as gambling stock. The more desperate people is, the more people will make irrational choices like gambling, borrow ah long etc Haha exactly the same as me. Genting exceptionalism is very true. The best out of the major sin stocks. There's much awareness about drinking and smoking less. But gambling? Humans love taking risks.

In my opinion, the winner in petrochemical in terms of performance will be LCTitan
Lower institutional ownership, smaller market cap plus a better cash flow/FCF/EPS provides a bigger room for growth. Don't care about the underlying business unless you have a degree in Chem Eng. Pure fundamentals only
But yeah Dialog is a good pick nonetheless. Just the fact that it was a KLCI component stock so don't expect much from the price action. Depends on your investment goal

QUOTE(joeblow @ Jun 28 2021, 02:11 PM) CSCSTEL is down big today, in my Watchlist. What's the news? Anyone knows? Is it because Steel factories cannot start work or prices of steel gone down because of the China reserve release? Thinking of going in Steel, I already vested in X (US Steel Stock). you are so late lol the time to be in steel was around November 2020 Also, be careful of X. They have US version of right issue and dilution. Public offering This post has been edited by qsrt1616: Jun 28 2021, 03:18 PM

QUOTE(joeblow @ Jun 28 2021, 03:20 PM) Why not now? You got insider info? This is not the correct way to trade cyclical stocks. Steel prices are highly volatile and unpredictable, same with oil and other commodities. You are supposed to sell when the earnings are spectacular and only buy when the company is making losses. Over the past few decades, steel companies perform the same way every cycle and there is no sign that this will change. X is a terrible company fundamentally given its high debt to equity ratio and tendency to raise money from shareholders, issue debt etc. Apart from very high operating expenses and tightening ore supply exacerbated by the current policy in China will exert pressure on steel prices worldwide. Also, steel companies have poor ESG scores which deter certain group of fund managers to give bullish ratings. And Goldman Sachs said it was bullish on commodities a few weeks ago. Which means time to RUN and scale out of positions This post has been edited by qsrt1616: Jun 28 2021, 03:31 PM

QUOTE(icemanfx @ Jun 28 2021, 07:44 PM) Then issues facing businesses and rakyat will lingering on. Linger on? Yes, economic reopening will take a few more quarters but mass vaccination will be completed in a few months. Market downturn is very common la. Wait next week interest rate decision. Right now it is all fear across the market. BNM follow US Fed one. Unchanged

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Jun 29 2021, 10:34 AM) Market liquidity still lacking, especially non retailer favourite counters. Very hard to build position. Don't worry. Just wait foreign investors finish goreng Vietnam & Indonesian market. Then it is back to 1980s style bull market in Malaysia. Bursa is still undervalued af. If not for political risks, we would've been up 150% from Covid bottom But make sure you are buying the right companies. Not the garbage volatile penny stocks. A lot of people sold large cap tech in March - May *facepalm This post has been edited by qsrt1616: Jun 29 2021, 10:48 AM

QUOTE(ChAOoz @ Jun 29 2021, 10:49 AM) Funny you say vietnam. Most of my counters have operations in vietnam but listed in Bursa. This is like an arbitrage to our low performing index haha. Most tech companies in Malaysia have operaitons in Vietnam and Cambodia because cheap labour

QUOTE(joeblow @ Jun 29 2021, 11:03 AM) Wow this Genetec has been in my Rakuten watchlist, in early June still only RM3... now is over RM8.... crazy.... Because you didn't buy it. Same as me. Same as almost every other retail investor. As soon as you buy over RM10k, it will tank the next day. Haha

QUOTE(Duckies @ Jun 29 2021, 11:23 AM) Hahaha yea...as usual hindsight 20/20. Usually a lot of people asked why some people make money in these exploding stocks. The secret is they buy small lots and have the risk appetite to hold. Don't tell me you have the guts to hold if you bought over 100k worth of stocks. QUOTE(statikinetic @ Jun 29 2021, 01:09 PM) Strap yourself in for the journey. Like yourself, I see positive tailwinds on the horizon in the Covid recovery period. The main risk of Xinjiang for me is not the negative press in the internaitonal media, but the Chinese people's reaction which may risk a boycott like in H&M. China is still a significant market for them. Our local bourse is expected to be flat for the rest of the year, unless our government finds new lows in mismanagement of the country. So I'm in a holding pattern for now to wait out the storm. I am not sure if I am still in your block list. But I am more bullish on Malaysia than the US now after the Gamestop and AMC debacle. Fund managers are considering Malaysia as the next destination of emerging market ("goreng list"). If you watch Bloomberg TV morning session every day, you will get the hint. However, this won't happen until the next General Election has been announced. Accumulate as many good companies as you can before the next general election. Right now Taiwan and Vietnam are the king. Sooner or later it will be our turn. Last year's glove bull run was nothing compared to the current bull run in Vietnam and Taiwan. Evergreen Marine Corp up 1000% in months This post has been edited by qsrt1616: Jun 29 2021, 03:14 PM

This is the best time to test the economic resilience of each company. Storm before the calm. Not worried about Bursa at all. I am more concerned about US market health at this point since the meme stock traders are getting less patient and no longer HODL

QUOTE(renee78 @ Jun 30 2021, 09:39 AM) I yesterday noticed Malaysia stock market is around the same level as in June 2020. Many stock markets are now far higher than in June 2020. I guess the big problem here is the foreign selling for the past few years. Is there still hope for the Malaysia stock market? I think yes. Foreign institutional investors are still holding Malaysian stocks although the average mutual fund weightage is only sub 1%. If you are talking about big banks like JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, they are net buyers of Malaysian tech stocks and obviously short on glove companies. Never trust local financial media which keeps blowing things out of proportion, citing heavy foreign outflow. It is really annoying As for other stock markets, there is nothing much we can do since our government is highly incompetent with the slew of authoritarian measures and unfavourable monetary/fiscal policy, all of which have proven to be ineffective in curbing the pandemic. Today at 12pm, PPI data will be announced and next Thursday will be BNM's interest rate decision. Apart from that, there is no catalyst left on the table and the liquidity risks also somehow exist. It is kinda useless and demotivating if you are the only person bullish on Malaysian stocks. It really pays garbage to be bullish on Bursa. That's why I always think that Bursa is a market controlled by perma bear investors. Pray for FBMKLCI to break 1800 and tech to break 100 by 2021 This post has been edited by qsrt1616: Jun 30 2021, 09:52 AM

QUOTE(joeblow @ Jul 1 2021, 03:38 PM) If Moo resigns how will market react? 1. If as per rumour H2O takes over. 2. Agong does a parliament vote and winner becomes PM (most likely Anwar). 3. Agong dissolves parliament, gets a caretaker PM (anyone but Moo or Azmin) until can have election. (unlikely to have election ASAP). I think the market will react positively either 3 scenarios happen. Market has lost confidence in Moo and PN I think. Thoughts? https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/...p-on-the-cards/Nothing. Seriously just buy the dip if he resigns. Only pay attention to interest rate decisions next week. Ignore every single narrative by finance newspapers and etc This post has been edited by qsrt1616: Jul 1 2021, 04:57 PM
