QUOTE(icemanfx @ Sep 22 2020, 10:13 AM) “In Korea, us 20-somethings only have two ways to get rich: Either we win the lottery or trade shares,” said Lee, whose new job is at a hospital, perhaps the only big employer in these Covid-19 times. “We know we will never be rich on whatever wages we earn. We will never earn enough to buy a home.” I think that not as many Malaysians in their 20s and 30s are tech savvy and stressed out about finances compared to South Koreans. So we are probably not as extreme. In many ways, Lee, who is currently betting on U.S. tech stocks, is part of the global surge in retail trading during the pandemic. Such investing has mushroomed in popularity in the U.S., as bored or fresh-out-of work people stay home amid lockdowns and take advantage of commission-free and easy-swipe apps like Robinhood and their stimulus money. Lee is one of the millions of South Korean individual investors accounting for 65% of the trading value of the benchmark Kospi this year, up from 48% in 2019. The bulk of these fledgling investors are in their 20s and 30s, according to Korea Investment & Securities, a Seoul-based brokerage. And many of them take on debt: margin financing is up by 33% between December and June this year, data from the Financial Supervisory Service show. https://www.bloomberg.com/ Will similar culture thrive in this country? |

Have to say that EPF increasing their TG shares above 5% is a big confidence boost to investors in TG.

my view is that syndicate will wait and see for now seeing as EPF and Foreign are buying gloves. If syndicate cause panic on gloves it won't be very effective as EPF and Foreign will just buy em all up. crystalclearlah liked this post

With EPF support all the gloves go up and stay up... this week at least. With that kind of consistency, hopefully local retail should start buying again instead of selling.

I think EPF is going into TG for the long term. Probably they see TG diversifying their business with all the profits that they are getting in the next 2-3 years. mitodna liked this post

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 25 2020, 09:25 PM) my read... TG n harta have turned bullish; kossan almost there; spmx is the laggard... maybe no big buyers on this one, yet. Maybe they are staying clear of Spmx because of the previous MD's legal case. Dunno about Harta though...when will they be exhausted n reverse, no sign yet, imo... but we keep watching, of course.
