Saw the highlights, despite augsburg fc being 14th in their league, they had good moments going forward.

Our Fwds looked blunt, also several good build up but lacked the finishing.

Mignolet concerns me, he has a habit of being on his knees (too soon) when opponents attack. Why Mig? 🙈🙈

Not ideal but not a disaster too...

Match just a few days before Cup final is just a bit too stressing. Wonder if JK will play Strurridge in the return leg. On the bright side, we don't need to travel for 2nd leg unlike City. I thk they need to go Kiev for their CL match.

No FA Cup to play means more time to train and regain fitness.

Just hope we keep a clean sheet and progress to next round.

I am surprise he missed that. Very surprise! He just need to stretch his leg a bit and touch the ball, a tap in goal would had happen.

But I guess the ball is a lil big too fast and unexpected, he just returned from injury as well. Not much to complain here.

I am more concern on the tight schedule for Europa and cup final. I wonder how Klopp will rotate the squad.

Mario Balotelli has played his last match for Liverpool: China or Turkey beckons

Mario Balotelli’s Liverpool career is over.

The Italian striker, who is currently on a season-long loan at AC Milan, doesn’t feature in Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the future.

As a result Liverpool are determined to off-load the controversial frontman on a permanent basis before pre-season training starts this summer.

A lucrative move to the Chinese Super League is a serious possibility for Balotelli with clubs in the Far East having already enquired about securing a deal for the 25-year-old.

There has also been interest from Turkey with Liverpool hopeful of recouping most of the ÂŁ16million they paid Milan for his signature in August 2014.

Balotelli, who underwent groin surgery back in November, has endured another underwhelming campaign in Italy – netting just twice in 11 appearances.

The former Manchester City striker incurred the wrath of boss Sinisa Mihajlovic after a narrow win over Genoa last weekend when the Serbian questioned Balotelli’s work rate.

The player’s agent Mino Raiola has denied reports about a rift but there’s little prospect of Milan wanting to keep him once his loan has expired in May.

Anfield officials have remained in regular contact with Raiola, who is free to hold talks with potential suitors over Balotelli’s next destination.

Liverpool, who are still paying a significant chunk of his ÂŁ80,000 per week salary, are keen to get him off the wage bill.

QUOTE
“Liverpool were one of the best teams I played for [but] the club had problems. I never met the owners. Liverpool’s a club to enjoy, to be there, to live. It’s not worth owning Liverpool 20,000km away; it belongs to the people and you don’t get that if you’re never there. It’s a pity. I always felt the club was trying to take a step forward but couldn’t. Now with Klopp they’re trying. He’s a manager for Liverpool – very much of the people. Nowhere has anybody treated me so well. I was sad that I had to go the way I did.”

Why then? “What happened is what had to happen. They promised me that if there was a good offer they’d release me because the club was in a process of disintegration. But [then the club] didn’t always tell the truth; it’s the player whose image gets damaged, the same happened to Fernando [Torres], but things were clear: I never lied. When Rafa [Benítez] went, they knew I’d leave. I felt the project was falling apart. Rafa had gone, there was no direction.” He pauses. “And the offer was Barcelona.”

“My feelings for Liverpool don’t mean I’m tied to them. I have a lot of affection for them and always will have, but if in the future a Premier League team gave me a chance, you can’t say: ‘No, I’d only play for one team,’” he says. “We’re professionals, this is our living. Whatever happens, my feelings for Liverpool won’t change.

“It’s not normal, and that’s why this team’s special,” Mascherano agrees. “After winning so much, this team goes on trying to feed itself. There are 25 of us and we don’t all think the same, we have different characters, but when you walk together everything’s easier. It’s not just the front three, but players like Busquets, Iniesta, PiquĂ©, who’ve been winning all there is to win for years but still have desire. Home-grown players who transmit the team’s identity.”

Like Jamie Carragher and Gerrard at Liverpool? “Yes,” he says, “and the first thing you did when you arrived [each day] was see if they were there, but there were only two of them; here there are five, six, seven, eight. Even the tiniest praise weakens you, making you relax, so imagine not just the praise but reality: medals on the table. Yet they’ve marked out the route that the rest follow; they pass on the culture of the club.

Excellent read this brilliant interview of Javier Mascherano.

Exactly. what happen to Mascherano, happened to Torres. However we still have LFC fans who says they left for (more) money (and only that).

What had transpired with these players began when the owners cut Rafa off, the team, the support and that had consequences to the team, squad strength and players minds.

It showed and it made it easy for the owners to sack Rafa.

Less direct, more possession.

"When Kloppo," as he still calls the man now in charge at Anfield, "was here, we were playing another kind of football, more counter-attacks, more powerful, more pressing."

"When Tuchel came, we started to play a different kind of football," he said. "We try to keep the ball more, we try to pass it more and play very offensive football."
