Statement
1. My Uber fee is 20%
2. Calculation is based on Jan till Oct
2.1 Jan till Jun is part time basis, every weekday evening, from around 8pm till 12am and whole day Sat and Sun, from afternoon till late night, can be 2-3am
2.2 Jul till Oct is full time basis, everyday, from noon till last request, usually from 2-3am
3. I start my journey from Cheras, where my base is, and depends on where the ride to. Then, I will hang there for 10 min to see if any nearby request, if no, back to Cheras or other CSA area (max 10 min there), whichever nearer)
3. Driving Honda City, fully paid, so, no instalment or depreciation is charged into it
4. Average income per day is around RM100-RM120, after deducting Uber fees.
5. Petrol alternate day need to refill, average about 370-380km before each refill
6. Car maintenance, average from 4 months (during part time) to 2.5 month (during full time) once, done by Honda authorised service centre
7. Other vehicle wear and tear, like tyres, engine mounting, etc, etc which is breakdown due to the age of my car (7 years)
8. The car insurance is not taken into the calculation, if want to take in, add in additional RM1k

Analysis
1. Overall income from Jan to Oct, after deducting all the cost is about RM3.7k (25% nett income), which average about RM370 per month.
2. If only taken the full time only, i.e. Jul till Oct, it is about RM3.1k (35% nett income) which average about RM790 per month
3. Petrol cost and car maintanance, including repair will take up the bulk of the cost (70% of the income)
4. The good thing about driving Uber, you be your own boss, you drive whenever you like, what time you feel like it, you in-control, so long as you have money in your wallet. It flexible, no other job in this world can give you this, you are your own boss, at least till when you realised you broke
5. The bad thing, as you can see, the money part is really low, even lower than the minimum wages. Don't listen to all those bullshit can earn 5 figures lah, can earn few thousands per month lah, yes, you can, but, that one before you deduct all your cost. As compare to you working in office, you what you get in salary is what you use to spend. Driving Uber, yes, average based on the time I drive above, I get average RM2-3k per month, but that is before deducting the petrol and accelerated car maintanance cost. If compare to say, office work versus Uber, office pay you say RM2k, you take home RM2k to spend, while driving Uber, you only take home less than RM1k each month

Conclusion
Driving Uber if only you are in real bad situation, i.e. out of job but still need money to survive and it is temporary measure, definitely not for long term income source
Also, with the changes happening now, price war, which resulted in lower fare, removal of incentives, etc, etc, you are at mercy of Uber
Overall, I seen enough, from where I started in Dec last year till now, I notice I need to drive more, drive longer (yes, no doubt the demand is ever increasing) to earn back the same earning, fare per day I got in December last year....i.e. lower fare, lower incentives, higher petrol
So, to all existing drivers out there, good luck to you guys.....I am jumping out soon, hope won't be back...might drive occassionally on part time if there is revision in fare
