Yup, fully agree with you. For any full time driver, every single cent is money, and safety is paramount (risk of accident or kena saman) But, after some experience, you will know which area are "problematic" which either it's better for you to call or do not accept the request.
Can't listen or believe 100% of what uber staff said one lah, sorry to said it, I doubt anyone of them, or majority of them never been Uber driver themselves, maybe as Uber riders. They will never understand the predicament or issues with Uber drivers themselves. They should go down the field, becoming Uber driver themselves to understand the daily issues Uber drivers facing, but, doubt they will do that, too proud.
After all, Uber was founded by someone who is frustrated that could not get a taxi ride himself during peak hours, while noticing many empty private vehicle (who incidentally he recently got asked to resigned
