feeder clubs are actually smaller clubs that have a mutual agreement on various fields with a more successful/rich club...

the parent club usually have an advantage over transfer of players of their feeder club. It is called the "First option"...Parent clubs have the first option on all the players that are going to be put on sale.It means that, if the feeder club received a formal bid for a player from Club A and they have agreed on a fee..the parent club can intervene if they can match the fee agreed with Club A...and the player must be sold to the parent club as per instruction on the "first option" rule..

And feeder club also can be used to avoid work permit for English Club. For example, Dong Fangzhuo, he can't joined Man Utd 3 years ago due to failure to get a work permit so he was loan to Royal Antwerp for three years to gain a Belgium passport so that he is qualify to play in Europe. Correct me if i'm wrong smile.gif

it was not to avoid, work permit cannot be avoided....the reason behind Dong's move to Antwerp besides not being granted a work permit is to prepare him for european football and to get him into regular first team action..and after three long years..Utd won the appeal and Dong is granted with a work permit.. smile.gif
