QUOTE(abubin @ Feb 5 2016, 10:52 AM) if you want to try ubuntu wth gui, then you can try xubuntu. It comes with build-in xfce which is one of the best linux gui in terms of performance and look. Hi abudin, need your help. I just wanna copy some files into another partition (EXT4), but then its come out error, and also from thumb drive to another partition. Just only can copy to the partition only. Any solution for me ? if you already installed ubuntu then you can install xfce separately. You can google how to do it online. *Running with Xubuntu 14. |

You're using Xubuntu right, I'm assuming the File Manager is Thunar, which should handle this just fine. I'm not sure, but I think I remember seeing the default as mounting external drives as read only on XFCE. (I can't remember this well, don't quote me on that).Anyway, try looking through the System Settings (especially the mounting ones), or : http://askubuntu.com/questions/247475/auto...s-are-read-only |

My thumb drive are running NTFS ~ Nice to follow your Linux progression. Not clear on your last question. Are you saying PC is using ext4, thumbdrive is NTFS? Maybe you can be clearer by answering these; 1. you can open file in thumbdrive 2. you can create files in thumbdrive 3. you can copy files from your desktop to thumbdrive 4. copy files from thumbdrive to desktop or home folder 5. Is there enough free space on the thumbdrive? You are saving files to your home folder, right? Additionally, if you know about add/remove software, ensure ntfs-3g is installed.
