If you're using atv 3 no, you can access all existing apps on Apple TV that using direct tv credential.

Apple TV 4 there's native app on it.

I'm afraid direct tv app is not compatible with android box at the moment, normally it works on roku, Apple TV box but you dload standalone apps like nat geo, history channel on android box and access thru it.
