QUOTE(Samanoske Akechi @ Mar 12 2007, 01:12 AM)
I may want to order both the U12F and U6 too, mate. But one problem rose while I was thinking of the dimensions. If I install the U12F in a position where it is blowing air towards my rear exhaust fan, its fins should already collide with my original Northbridge heatsink on my Asus mobo. The current heatsink is around 2.5 - 3cm height from my mobo, so will it be able to fit under the fins of the U12F?

Also, if so happens that it DOES collide and won't fit, will changing it to the U6 solve the problem? And as I heard but am not sure of, is it true that the new units of the U12F now have the cool Noctua logo on them? smile.gif

Here's a photo of the situation. The northbridge looks puny from the pic, but it does measure up to 2 - 3cm height from the mobo

Thanks

i think the NH-U12F cooler will fit into your mobo because i already done the calculation. it's about 35mm to 40mm.
155mm (original height) - 120mm (fan height or fins height) + 5 mm (socket height) = approximately 40mm clearance. Do correct me if i'm wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif

I also not sure why it go that fast...maybe due to the mobo give too much power...

the time I found out it can spin 1600rpm++ is when I put the FM-121 as pull and Noctua Fan as rear...if I lower the speed of the FM-121, the Noctua fan rpm will also lower a bit... the lowest I think still have 1300rpm++ when I turn FM-121 to the lowest speed...

Even when I put it on NH-U12F...it over 1200rpm most of the time...sometime can reach 1300rpm++ too when weather is hot... sweat.gif

@saoirse

I do not want to take so much trouble to rma it even thought I know Noctua people very hardworking, can do it very fast...
btw, yesterday forget to mention, I already receive the promotion items from Noctua...and guess what...they send 2 to me...haha... now I have 2 sticker and 2 badge... whistling.gif  but 1 of the sticker terlipat a bit...the posman lipat it... doh.gif

that time I received 2 email from Noctua that they send out the promotion item already, I thought they just resend it, but out of my espect, they send 2 to me...bravo Noctua...so nice... thumbup.gif

its natural science of logic bro. your FM-121 suck the air from the outlet of bundled NH-U12F fan and forcing the fan to spin higher than its original speed. biggrin.gif

sorry i didnt read your post very careful. i said "its natural science of logic bro. your FM-121 suck the air from the outlet of bundled NH-U12F fan and forcing the fan to spin higher than its original speed." either way, if u push air from a fan (FM-121 fan ) into inlet of other fan (NH-U12F fan) then it will also force the other fan to spin higher rpm. Correct me if i'm wrong. i think its logic.

i think people who bought Noctua with bundled fan will regret if they sell the fan which is the best fan with high CFM and low noise level...

i'm having problems with my noctua cooler. the idle temperature is high about 48 degrees celcius. my system isnt overclock. Already checked the mounting is tightly screwed. Suspiciosly, i removed the cooler and i found out that the thermal paste barely pressed between cpu and heatsink. hmm.gif Need help here.

if u want to get that kind of temperature your ambient room temperature need to be below 26 c - e.g in an air-cond room...

it's impossible to achieve 31 C in our climate condition. lowest i can get is about 34~35 C in raining day or in early morning 3~6am.
