I may want to order both the U12F and U6 too, mate. But one problem rose while I was thinking of the dimensions. If I install the U12F in a position where it is blowing air towards my rear exhaust fan, its fins should already collide with my original Northbridge heatsink on my Asus mobo. The current heatsink is around 2.5 - 3cm height from my mobo, so will it be able to fit under the fins of the U12F?

Also, if so happens that it DOES collide and won't fit, will changing it to the U6 solve the problem? And as I heard but am not sure of, is it true that the new units of the U12F now have the cool Noctua logo on them?

Here's a photo of the situation. The northbridge looks puny from the pic, but it does measure up to 2 - 3cm height from the mobo

Okay guys, thanks for the advice. Though, I think my pic may have played some tricks on your eyes Here's a real diagram of my situation now. I measured my northbridge with a ruler already and the height is exactly 3cm. So, can anyone here who already owns the NH-U12F but hasn't assembled it, HELP ME MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE FINS AND THE PART WHICH TOUCHES THE PROC? Please refer below for a better understanding, and HELP ME get a Noctua today!!

Hmm.....well that's both good news and bad news then. Good news, I can finally get myself the U12F with peace of mind. But, at the same time the bad news is northbridge-related. In short.....IT'S ON FIRE!!!

I don't mean to offend irangan's sales here by posting on another brand, please don't misunderstand. Since an NH-U6 wouldn't fit on my mobo around a U12F anymore, I guess I need to find something which won't be in the way of the fins, right? Can anyone here give me some opinions on whether getting a Thermalright HR-05 SLi version will solve this problem?

EDIT : Oh wait, on second thought, it wouldn't hlp much because what I'm actually trying to do for my northbridge now is to turn it into active cooling with a fan. But I already have a graphics card under my northbridge, so even if I DO manage to fit a HR-05 SLi snuggly above the card, I won't be able to add the fan, thus no point going through the hassle

Added on March 15, 2007, 7:46 pmHey all you guys out there who already have the U12F, I just thought of another issue which might occur. It somehow relates to my previous question on whether it would collide with my Northbridge cooler, which was solved promptly with ease thanks to you guys too.

After reading the Noctua Product Info on it, I realized the shocking truth that the thickness of the fins is already 7cm without the fan and 9.5cm with the fan attached. The problem now is that I have a RAM Cooler attached to my RAM slots, which happens to be quite high above the motherboard. Will it collide with the fan of the U12F? The matter now is not the height of the U12F or RAM cooler itself, because my RAM cooler is most definitely already equally high as the fins. The question and problem now is : The distance between the U12F and my RAm cooler, will the RAM cooler collide with the fan?

Hope you guys understand my problem, and can provide and answer as soon as possible before irangan's bulk is ready to close Thanks a million

Mind me asking, coz I've been rather outdated. So is irangan finally bulking those cool Noctua fans? I got my U12F not long ago and the fan's DA BOMB when it comes to noise!! Not that it sounds like a bomb though....hehe

Just can't sleep well nowadays ever since I found out that this is most probably the last Noctua bulk yet, and also that this will be the first and last bulk which will bring in those cool fans. I totally savouring the silence of the one on my U12F now, gotta get more to shut up the whole casing!!!!

Yeah, he's right. If you're worried about not being able to sell off extra U12F's, that's probably understandable coz everyone who wants it has got their orders made in the past bulks

But, if you're worried about not being able to get the fans sold, you're dreaming These fans are like karats of gold for the price of one, they'll sell faster than food in a famine

Akachester here explains my statement with much accuracy As I said and will now repeat, there's absolutely no posibility that you won't be able to sell off extra fans, so if you could, I'd say getting more than 10-20 units would be reasonable, coz besides the fact that they'll definitely be in high demand, after this it'll be rare to get you to continue with bulking them, so hence the pun.

NF-R8 (8cm Fan)

Obviously you guys know what that means, right?

Really? Must be my poor eyesight then Anyways, the U9F's fan is 9cm, as clearly hinted in the name itself, whereas the fan is an 8cm one

To clarify on this, I did write to Noctua weeks ago regarding this isue of whether they'd be including their 92mm fans in their product line separately anytime soon. The reply mentioned that this particular model was not their final best design and that they were already designing a new 92mm dedicated fan to be sold separately, which will be released sometime at the end of this year or next year. :0
