I may want to order both the U12F and U6 too, mate. But one problem rose while I was thinking of the dimensions. If I install the U12F in a position where it is blowing air towards my rear exhaust fan, its fins should already collide with my original Northbridge heatsink on my Asus mobo. The current heatsink is around 2.5 - 3cm height from my mobo, so will it be able to fit under the fins of the U12F?

Also, if so happens that it DOES collide and won't fit, will changing it to the U6 solve the problem? And as I heard but am not sure of, is it true that the new units of the U12F now have the cool Noctua logo on them? smile.gif

Here's a photo of the situation. The northbridge looks puny from the pic, but it does measure up to 2 - 3cm height from the mobo

i think the NH-U12F cooler will fit into your mobo because i already done the calculation. it's about 35mm to 40mm.
155mm (original height) - 120mm (fan height or fins height) + 5 mm (socket height) = approximately 40mm clearance. Do correct me if i'm wrong. icon_rolleyes.gif

Samanoske Akechi,

the U12F should jus go over ur stock nb cooler if u position the cooler blowing to exchaust..hav high clearance..

put it in a simple way..if the stock asus nb cooler height is not higher than ur ram den no problem at all..even if higher in something like 1 to 5mm it would still clear

judging by the look u wont hav problem at all..the nb cooler is not tall plus campsol2k have give u good measurement

so go ahead n order one now! tongue.gif

edit : aikz good to see ur name already in the list rclxms.gif

Okay guys, thanks for the advice. Though, I think my pic may have played some tricks on your eyes tongue.gif Here's a real diagram of my situation now. I measured my northbridge with a ruler already and the height is exactly 3cm. So, can anyone here who already owns the NH-U12F but hasn't assembled it, HELP ME MEASURE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE FINS AND THE PART WHICH TOUCHES THE PROC? Please refer below for a better understanding, and HELP ME get a Noctua today!! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

The calculations I need are marked as question marks up there ^^^ happy.gif

Thanks to everyone who helps me out

Hmm.....well that's both good news and bad news then. Good news, I can finally get myself the U12F with peace of mind. But, at the same time the bad news is northbridge-related. In short.....IT'S ON FIRE!!! shocking.gif

I don't mean to offend irangan's sales here by posting on another brand, please don't misunderstand. icon_question.gif Since an NH-U6 wouldn't fit on my mobo around a U12F anymore, I guess I need to find something which won't be in the way of the fins, right? Can anyone here give me some opinions on whether getting a Thermalright HR-05 SLi version will solve this problem?

EDIT : Oh wait, on second thought, it wouldn't hlp much because what I'm actually trying to do for my northbridge now is to turn it into active cooling with a fan. But I already have a graphics card under my northbridge, so even if I DO manage to fit a HR-05 SLi snuggly above the card, I won't be able to add the fan, thus no point going through the hassle smile.gif

Thanks again, guys. smile.gif

And let it blow hot air from the bottom directly towards my power supply? Nah, having it blow to the rear exhaust should be the only way for me, since my casing doesn't have a top fan either wink.gif Thanks anyways

I don't wanna do that as it will make the temp go higher as I use FM-121 at the rear, I think my PSU 120mm fan not strong enough to get rid the hot air out of my casing... sweat.gif

I think he point to me, not you... laugh.gif

by the way, your mobo should have no problem with NH-U12F, the high between fin and base of hs is 27.5mm, so including processor, should be more than 30mm already...but you will not able to put NC-U6 if you put it to push air to rear as the NC-U6 is higher than your mobo stock nb cooler... sweat.gif anyway, good to hear that you already order NH-U12F from irangan...should work very well in your rig... icon_rolleyes.gif

I dont think that is possible.. Your BTVX will knock on the U6 because of its shape
